I’ve 100% achievmented and platinum’d this game across all platforms and decided to do the 100% steam runs of the ff games too…and this is still happening. The steam version is one of the worst, it’s like they took the ps2 port and didn’t remaster anything but the sound….the windows version was mint compared to this.

you not being able to re-master a 20 year old game
Hey all, I seem to have found a fix.
Note that my set up is an Intel Processor + Nvidia GPU combo. I believe the cutscenes are only barred due to the DRM of the video, not sure how it'll work for AMD.

My Fix:
1. Make sure you have the Nvidia Geforce Experience installed from Nvidia Drivers website. I believe this installs the GeForce Experience Overlay.
2. Open the FFX game from the Steam FF Launcher as normal.
3. Press Alt+Z, this'll bring up the GeForce Experience Overlay.
4. Navigate to > Settings cog > turn off 'Broadcast' AND turn off 'Capture'.
5. Close the FFX app, then reopen it from the FFX Launcher. (I didn't have to restart the launcher).

Let me know if this works as it worked for me, no need to install additional addons. I know some users may not install GeForce Experience, but it's a trusted software as opposed to other fixes out there.

Good Luck and let me know if this worked for you.

Here is the other discussion that's open too, I've also posted my fix there: https://steamcommunity.com/app/359870/discussions/0/1698300679755425340/?ctp=2

There is no DRM on the videos.
but actively taking video-recordings during gameplay of course can cause problems.

I run an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 TI, and what fixed it for me was going into the NVIDIA Control Panel-->Manage 3D Settings-->and change the Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance. You can do it on a global basis or program by program LINK[nvidia.custhelp.com]
If you don't run an NVIDIA gpu, then I got nothing for you. Sorry.
Dude! That worked for me too! I wonder how such neglectable setting might cause such issue.
I have GTX 1070 by the way.
Thanks!

I too also tried this method [NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Power Management Mode = Prefer Maximum Performance], tested it, and works!! Thanks!!

Thank you, this fixed it for me too!
I tried setting the power management mode to prefer maximum performance, but it keeps doing it when I’m on the airship and I go to attack sin and then it crashes I have the RTX 4070 16 gigs of ram and a ryzen 5 before I upgraded the graphics card I had the GTX 1660 super and it never did that

The green screen issue is a known problem. There's two ways to fix it:

1. Get the 4GB Vram patch[ntcore.com] directly.

-OR-

2. Get the UnX mod[wiki.special-k.info], which includes the above fix and also additional QoL improvements that can be very useful. Make sure to grab it from the wiki (in the link) not the Steam page, that one is outdated.
Hi guys you can try this solution ( it s not mine) :

as i read - you can either - if your hardware and driver not doing it automatically
1. use some patches to get the use of more than 2 GB
2. or simply reduce settings to get under 2 GB
30 fps, disable 4K / 3D, reduce resolution, ... that works also for ffx-2

It has something to do with HDR. Disable HDR and it should stop green screening

Codecs is first thing I would check out if I were you.

Sometimes codecs installed get broken can cause video to show green screen and need to be uninstalled and fresh reinstalled, but that can be really annoying to do.
How can I check it? I have rtx 4070, i changed 3d settings to prefer maximum performance but it still gives green screen, and sometime characters and treasure chest is not seen. I did run file as an administrator but sometimes it just suddenly shuts down the game. Right now steam is ruining my gaming experience, I love this game and I played it on play station 2. I don't know how to fix the problem

As with many older games, this is simply a virtual RAM issue that's easily patched.
