The only time AP grinding comes with a strategy, really, is at endgame.
https://www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/197344-final-fantasy-x/faqs/13619
protip for endgame: when you fight dark yojimbo, you have to fight him 4 times. each time you can steal...dark matter? and has like a 1/8 chance of dropping master spheres. save after the 3rd fight, quit the game, and reload. you have to fight all 4 without quitting the game, or it resets the number of fights. i.e. you can grind him for master spheres and dark matter to your hearts content.
it is by far the fastest and best way to obtain the break damage limit and ribbon abilities.
i also suggest grabbing the cheat engine script on fearless (just google it), and enableing the "aeons only" overdrive mode. this will cause your characters to gain overdrive like an aeon, from dealing or being dealt damage.
and honestly, if youre going to follow any of the glitch exploitation methods that guy linked to, you might as well just cheat properly and add every item to your inventory, tick the checkbox next to the master spheres so the number never changes, and just tape a turbo button down on your controller as you activate every sphere slot for free. the cheating that he links to is just a waste of your time. either grind as the game intends, or cheat properly. exploiting glitches is still cheating.
But to each their own. As long as it's single player, I could not care less what other people do in their games. Everyone's free to play they way THEY want, as long as that doesn't impact anyone else.
Best possible advice to give.
Kilika - the enemies in Kilika give quite alot XP compared to enemies on the Mi'hen highroad
Macalania woods - quite easy enrmies that give good XP especially if you rushed through thunder plains
Bevelle Bridge - 2nd best Spot in the Game , finish atleast 1 main Path for every Character
don tomberry in the monster arena - best spot , you need special weapons for it which convert our overdrive meter into XP once you are able to kill him fast , switch to throwing potions at him
Update: Mix up where you do the grinding, purely to give yourself a change of scenery every so often. Also, try to set a goal for how far you wanna grind. (My current game, I want to learn Lulu's -aga spells before I go to Macalania.)
i agree
i usually get Ra spells on Yuna and Lulu before the sin spawn at Mushroom rock
you could always cheat level 3s by using ffxed
