Berserker and Samurai Dresspheres
Ok so I was randomly doing fiend cups as bored and had a berserker plus two lady lucks. Ran into a claret dragon who two hit the lady lucks. Berserker was dodging everything. mad rush does far more than samurais momentum(currently the second highest damage i can do to my knowledge). This dressphere also has a move like psychics death move (so does sam actually with shin zantetsu and zantetsu).

This got me wondering what can the berserker actually dodge as claret dragon is just some random enemy (still able to two shot the lady lucks mind you tho) but it seems to just dodge everything so far. I have evade and counter and magic counter learned already due to some crazy grinding via non hotspot activities. I only picked this class cause it was a part of rikkus mascot lol

So anyway my question is why are berserker and samurai always placed low in dressphere rankings?, because both seem very good to me. Dont get me wrong psychic and dark knight are still up there imo but tbh all i use now in random battles is sams shin zantetsu (possibly cheating like zanmato though?) and mug lol (treasure hunt GG). Occasionally against bosses i will use 2 Dark Knight and alchemist but maybe berserker would be as good as the dark knights 0_o forgot to mention...hayate gives evasion x10 and haste lol :)and they have buffs to give protect and shell XD

Dark Knight is used primarily because Darkness ignores DEF and resistance (and to a secondary degree because it ignores evasion). Against enemies with super high DEF, even powerful attacks like Mad Rush will do pitiful damage. Plus, Darkness hits multiple enemies at once.

That being said, Berserker is very good for fighting random chaff, not only because it hits very hard but also because its counterattacks allow it to get more hits in than through regular turns, which ups your damage output considerably.

As for evasion, it's a bit tricky to figure out what can and can't be evaded. One of the game's most dreaded enemies, Chac, for example, has a powerful attack that CAN be evaded (but also one that can't be); while many others have abilities that cannot be. As in FFX, Luck also plays a role in evading attacks. Of course, it's also useless against spells, which are often among the most dangerous attacks.

Personally I quite like the Berserker, and also Thief for that matter. But so much of FFX-2's endgame revolves around multi-hit combos and DEF-ignoring attacks that they fall by the wayside a bit. I do also agree that Dark Knight is a bit overrated - it's useful to be sure, but slow as hell.

Samurai is a bit of an odd one, as it has a lot of useful abilities on it but doesn't really quite have its perfect niche. Fireworks is effectively a weaker Darkness (can be evaded, and is physical rather than non-elemental), and the buff stuff is useful but comes at the cost of having lower base stats. The insta-K.O. is decent, but not unique (Psychic has it too, and is available a lot earlier), and has a somewhat limited use. It's not a bottom-tier sphere like Trainer, but it's also not top tier.
