FFXIII has great combat IMO but you aren't directly controlling which attack they use. Instead you control which paradigm they are in which tells the AI what attacks to use. You can if you wish select attacks for your leader but it's not exactly that useful to do most of the time.
FFXIII story is hit or miss for most. I loved it. FFX is pretty linear, FFXII is about just as linear but makes it a lot more noticable. Chapter 11 is the most open world of both games. FFX-2 is kinda open world but it's still using FFX's linear map.
My opinion is FFX/X-2 is better but FFXIII is still a pretty good game.
Type-0 is hit or miss again. It's nice because you have a large number of distinct different characters. I couldn't really get into the story, kind of enjoyed the combat and there were other good parts. I'd recommend trying it but FFXIII or FFX are both better.
I would always go with FF-X here.
It is a good game overall, has it's ups and downs.
And you also get X-2 - many people hate on it, but i think that is kinda unfair as they are directly comparing it to X. It just didn't hold up to the expectations, the wrol-setting changed dramatically, the behaviour of the characters as well. But it is still a solid game.
X-2 story is whatever i enjoyed the job system and how much replay ability the game had
X was recently voted the best FF game in the series in a poll by the Japanese TV station NHK.
It's a masterpiece, not without its flaws but nevertheless a monumental work in the history of video games.
FF10 is better cause of easy gameplay.
at least , you can buy 2 of them you wont be sad if your pc works them...
i mostly dont get your post, you explicitly describe how you dont like this game's play style, and list 2 other games you have already researched and like. are you looking for someone to talk you out of it? an echo chamber?
So if you're into Final Fantasy then skip the 13 series is what I'd say.
Plus, the PC port of the 13 series is pretty broken.
