Too easy? (FFX)
I've played almost every FF that came before X. I've enjoyed most of them.

However, I'm finding FFX has the same problem as VI. It's way too easy. In the first two hours every enemy died in only one hit, even a group of 3 enemies can be killed by Tidus in only 1 attack. Only a few enemies were the exception. This has the effect of making battles seem like nothing more than formalities, just pointless busy work they're throwing at you to remind you, hey, yeah this is actually still a game, not a movie.

This is not an attack against the game. I think it's a great-looking game with (so far) an interesting story and nice OST. And I know I'm only in the early parts of the game, so I'm going to stick through it in hope that this changes.

But can a seasoned veteran of this game tell me -
Does it get harder as the game progresses? I don't want Dark Souls difficulty but I do want some challenge. That's what makes it feel like I've accomplished something. When it's too easy, it's just boring, no matter how good the story is. If all I wanted was story I'd just go watch a longplay of the game...

EDIT: Thanks for all your replies. Your responses make me more confident about continuing with the game.

It does eventually require more effort than "hit each thing one or two times with correct character", yes. But the main story will largely only toss a proper challenge at you at a few points if you bother to keep your sphere grid mostly up to date, FF10 tends to be one of the easier games during the main story.

The bonus bosses are where you'll likely have a proper challenge.

honestly , 2 hours is nothing in the game , i dont know where you are exactly you are , in 2 hours , you could still be on besaid or just arrived at kilika , besaid really is the tutorial area

im a big ffx veteran and honestly , the first couple of hours are just run through while watching an anime , but later on , theres many enemies that can pretty much destroy you with one attack , i even died to a super boss in the desert because i couldnt do something against its overdrive in time , the game gets alot more difficult after some time , unless you overlevel , theres many enemies and especially bosses that can cause problems if you dont have the right tactic

this boss in my opinion is the first that is really really hard unless you are overleveled

Let me turn the question around: Is there any FF that is not easy for the most part?
In most of them, if you jsut fight a few extra encounters everything is a walk in the park.
If you do not level up at least a bit then some of the later areas will become challanging.

FFs have never really been hard for their story parts. But if anything, you could probably argue that Seymour Flux and Yunalesca are actually among the most challenging story bosses in FF for novice players, since their mechanics are somewhat involved. I can't think of many that I've seen more complaints about (though I haven't played the very early FFs).

The first FFs were much harder than the recent ones. The NES, WSC and PSX versions of FF1 are hard due to resource management, and dungeons where the RNG can just demolish you, making you get ambushed against 9 enemies who use insta-kill abilities to wipe everyone out before you even get a turn. The GBA, PSP and mobile versions were much easier, since you'll have much more MP for spells, everything is much cheaper, and you can save everywhere. Similarly, the NES, WSC and PSX versions of FF2 are hard, because the growth mechanics are extremely tedious, while the post-GBA versions made it much easier to develop your characters.

FF3 has pretty hard battles, and the final dungeon is several hours long, with no chance to save. Grinding can make the game easier, but you'll need to grind a lot more than in other FFs. The original Japanese version of FF4 is really hard, especially if you use the fastest battle speed and the Active mode. The enemies are tough there, and they become much harder when they have a significant speed advantage against you. FF5 is hard in a way that leveling up won't really help you. Instead, you'll need to think of a proper job and ability setup to beat the dungeon and its bosses.

Every FF since VI has been quite easy.

Another tedious factor about the aforementioned two bosses is that there's an unskippable, over 5-minute cutscene before those bosses, which is simply lousy game design. For new players, I'd say bosses like Evrae and Spectral Keeper can also be quite tricky. If you've done absolutely no side-quests, and no grinding, Braska's Final Aeon may also take a while to beat, and there's a minigame and an unskippable 5-minute cutscene before the battle.

well , but its not as bad as orphan phase 1 and 2 you can skip the cutscenes but the ones in 13 before and between the boss fight are super long

That's why you skip the cutscenes in FFXIII if you happen to lose the final battle. In FFX, there is no such option.

True but length wise that cutscene is even longer, imo the scenes in seymours house are worse, they take forever
