Let me guess: It's a Dark Aeon drop?
Ribbon is niceand very expansive to craft, so it's nice if you can get it single + 3 free slots or ribbon + some good other effect. But BHPL isn't used much, most players avoid it.
If you really want to use that piece of equipment then you can use it for the later Dark Aeons Yojinbo, Bahamut, Anima and the sisters. Add Auto-Haste and Auto-Protect/Phoenix. To make good use of BHPL, that character should have 25k+ HP.
But I highly recommend staying away from BHPL.

Yes, Break HP Limit is a bit of a trap as it's not needed and takes away a slot (plus farming time, if you want to manually put it on).

Ribbon is great, but also a bit overrated. While protecting against all statuses is definitely a benefit, the only status you REALLY care about is Petrify, because it can permanently shatter a character. For endgame fights, Stoneproof will do virtually the same work as Ribbon, since the other statuses are usually either a) safe to ignore; or b) come with damage that kills you anyway. That's not to say Ribbon is bad, of course; unlike BHPL it doesn't take away a slot because you want to block Petrify either way. Farming it specifically is a bit of a waste of time, though. You get one for free from unlocking Omega Buster (x99 Dark Matter) and one for almost free since you're likely to get close to another x99 Dark Matter from random Arena drops during your stat grind. That should be all you really need.

The generally best armor is: Auto-Haste/Auto-Phoenix/Auto-Protect/Stoneproof. You can use that for all the Arena superbosses, and all the Dark Aeons.

Penance, the ultimate superboss, is a little special, as the best armor to use against it is: Auto-Haste/Auto-Potion/Auto-Protect/+20%DEF due to the way the fight mechanics work.

Generally speaking, the single most important ability to have on an armor is Auto-Haste. It's really not negotiable in any way. Auto-Protect is also extremely powerful (many people underestimate just how good it is).

this time i did it without break hp limit but bosses like dark valefor are just annyoing with less hp , if they deal 9999 damage and you have more , you would just survive it without issues

about auto protect , are most enemies dealing physical damage in post game ? llike valefors laser attack , or why is auto protect so important

well for now i can always just use the armor and put auto haste and stone proof or auto protect on it

Don't add stoneproof when you already have ribbon on it, stoneproof is instead of ribbon if you are building from scratch. Other than that enjoy the find always nice to get decent items after dark aeons

There aren't any bosses that consistently deal damage that's more than 9,999 but less than 99,999 (or whatever HP you'd have with BHPL). Healing back up with BHPL is also an issue, since practically all healing is capped at 9,999.

The reality of FFX endgame is simply that any relevant attack you can either a) reduce to below 9,999; or b) simply take, die, and Auto-Phoenix back up.

Auto-Protect plays into that, as nearly all attacks you face at endgame are indeed physical. With Auto-Protect and x5 Cheer, you can reduce most damage to below 9,999 (except on Penance, which is why you use a +20%DEF armor there). The ones you can't reduce below that would all kill you anyway, even with BHPL.

And BHPL also is super annoying to farm, while the other mods you can just get very easily.

can a high defense /auto protect lower the damage dark valefor deals with the laser ? or do you have to use hyper mighty g ?

that always hits for 9999

Okay, should clarify - there are a few attacks that you need to block with aeons because they always deal lethal damage to everyone. Most Dark Aeon overdrives fall into that category.

The regular laser that Dark Valefor uses (i.e. not the overdrive) you can reduce below 9,999. Same with Dark Yojimbo's Wakizashi.
