Stacking only really works between different types of multipliers (that happen to have some synergy). So if you have Triple AP, Triple Overdrive, and Overdrive->AP on a weapon, you do effectively get multiplicative synergy - but Triple AP and Double AP will not multiply with each other, and neither will Triple Overdrive and Double Overdrive.
For stat boosts, I believe it's additive stacking - i.e. if you put +5% STR, +10% STR, and +20% STR on a weapon, you end up with +(5+10+20)=+35% STR, not +(5%*10%*20%)=+38.6%.
