Any Way to Disable Voice Acting?
I didn't see the option in my config menu. Voicework usually ranks pretty low on my list of concerns but it's starting to distract me in this game. Outright muting the cutscenes isn't ideal since I'd still like to hear music and sound effects.

Thanks in advance.

Might be possible with a mod, but I doubt any modder would have a particular interest in this kind of job.

Don't think it's possible without modding.

Fair enough. I might try out the Japanese voice mod instead.

The Japanese voices are certainly MILES above the English ones. Especially Seymour...

Hearing his voice for the first time was what prompted me to make this thread. It's too effeminate for a guy who's obviously poised to become the main villain.

Don't turn off voices. If you never heard Tidus Laugh, you aren't a true woman/man yet. :D

I honestly think that Seymour has an ok voice. My dad said that the key to good voice-acting is to speak softly, and that's exactly what he did.

also,

I personally love rikkus voice.

I like the voices for most of the main cast. It really boils down to Yuna and Tidus making weird, unnatural noises that suck me out of each cutscene. I wouldn't mind if this game took itself less seriously, but trying to establish a "tragic" tone comes across as laughable when your lead actors bring so much ham to the recording booth.
The guy who does Tidus' voice also voices Johnny Test and Yggdrassil from Tales of Symphonia. Also Obi Wan from the Clones Wars. Tidus made him famous, and made him a lot of money. Sorry, I just felt like saying that .-.

The English voice actors of Tidus and Yuna are definitely talented, and outside FFX, they've done splendid work, even when they've reprised their roles as Tidus and Yuna in FF spinoff games. However, in FFX, their voice acting was terribly weak. I think this was mostly because of the inexperienced directing of the English dub, and bad editing. For FFX, try using a mod like Untitled Project X to switch to Japanese voices (with English text). Don't worry, the infamous laugh scene will sound just as awkward in Japanese, so you will still understand what the people above are talking about. xD

His laugh will play in your head once you see that scene.

Also this shirt :) [i.imgur.com]

To answer your question, does this work? ESC, >System Settings>Audio>Voice Volume

Turns out you can mute voices in the ESC menu. Thanks to those who made the suggestion.

I like Kimahri's voice acting.

Rikku and Auron are great too; the latter might be the best voice casting I've heard in an English dub. Wakka and Lulu's actors also did a nice job of capturing each character's personality. Even Yuna won some points for her solid performance in the "farewell" speech.

For the record, I chose to keep voices enabled upon realizing that the good significantly outweighs the bad. Thanks for the feedback regardless; this thread might help others with the same question.
