Seymour Flux Boss Help (Help in General)
Hey guys! Right now I'm in some deep ♥♥♥♥. I managed (somehow) to get to the 3rd Seymour battle and now I'm completely stuck. I am severely underleveled because I've skipped 97% of battles I've fought in the game and every mob I fight on mt gagazet is hard. The strongest person I have is Auron which only has 3500 hp and only does 1200 per hit, so you can only imagine how weak my other party members are. I looked up several old guides, but it doesn't help since they are completely over leveled and confusing and I completely skipped the calm lands. I have 0 spheres, 40,000 gil, and only 20 al bed potions, p-downs, and high potions. So guys, what do I need to do? Grind for hours? Restart? This is my first playthrough (blind) and 2nd FF game I've played in general (Besides 1).I think I've been playing the game wrong (if thats possible). Any help is appreciated.

The most important thing is to have the right strategy. Seymour Flux is the first real tough fight during the story, and it's important to manage it correctly. For example, the interaction between his Lance of Atrophy and Full-Life can be broken with the right timing. Seymour can also be dispelled (crucial when he casts Reflect), silenced (Wakka's Silence Buster for example), and poisoned (using bombs, or Lulu's Bio). When he is about to cast Total Annihilation, use as many defensive skills as you have - Shell, Mighty Guard (Kimahri), even just putting the character in "defend" mode. It's a telegraphed attacked so you know it's coming - don't try to block it with an aeon, by the way, as like all Seymours, Seymour Flux will simply banish the aeon on the next turn. But an overdrive Bahamut can still be a good source of massive damage if timed right.

If all fails and you're REALLY underleveled, just grind a bit on Gagazet. The XP there is pretty good. But you shouldn't need massive grinding.

Finally, some help. Ya this is the first game to really challenge me tbh and put away my pride to ask for help. I've looked at old videos, but everyone seemed to be so much further progressed in my situation which discouraged me. Anyway, I think I'm behind on abilities. Yuna doesn't have dispel and Lulu doesnt have bio yet and my aeon overdrives dont excede 9999 yet so It's difficult to dish out damage, let alone take it because once Seymour does the sweep attack, everyone just gets one shot. I think I might need to grind a little longer in mt. Gagazet. Any tips for getting my team stronger? Because I heard it gets WAY harder than this later and I don't want to get stuck in the same situation.

There's really only two challenging story fights: Seymour Flux, and Yunalesca, which is a bit further ahead. But neither of those fights requires you to brute-force or overlevel - you just have to have the right strategy. Aside from those two fights, though, most story encounters aren't all that difficult. Very different when it comes to the optional superbosses at postgame, of course, but that's to be expected.

If you're lacking certain key abilities (like Dispel) then just grind a bit more. While super high levels aren't required (and indeed it's possible to beat the game without leveling at all), things do get easier with more stats that's for sure. If you want to backtrack a bit, it could be a good idea to get started with the Monster Arena in Calm Lands. If you want to do postgame, you will have to capture 10 of each fiend in each zone in the game eventually, and you can start with that once you get to the Calm Lands. Since that is something you need to do anyway eventually, you can use it as an excuse to grind levels in the process as well. If you capture 10 of everything in Calm Lands and the first part of Gagazet (up to Seymour Flux) you're likely to end up with more than enough experience. But it'll take time, and if you aren't interested in tackling postgame content, capturing all the fiends isn't exactly necessary. If you just want some levels, grind on Gagazet - the latest area you have access to is generally the best source of XP.

Alright thanks for the info man, I appreciate it since this game is old. I'll just level a little and then tackle Seymour. Also, should I just get wings of discovery from the chocobo races and mix them with rikku? Or is that cheap? If so, I'll just go along with the proper way. This is going to be tough lol.

Whatever works for you. Nobody is policing your gameplay but you yourself. Whether or not something is fun for you or whether it ruins your fun is something only you can decide. Nobody else gets to judge.

With the speedup/moreEncounters and staying close to a safepoint you can get the levels really qickly.

Also in addition what others said:
if you have trouble with seymor there is another boss just a bit further that imo is a lot harder if you are low on levels.

I finally beat Seymour after a couple of hours of grinding and getting spheres (that was the hardest part) and it felt so rewarding. I went back to get Wings of Discovery from the chocobo races just in case for later bosses. I'm currently at Spectral Keeper boss and i feel the game is getting harder lol. What have I learned? Don't skip all your fights and strategize.

Ok, so I struggled with this one a bit but then found a simple strategy and breezed right through. Some of this was based on other good suggestions but many of them I didn't have to employ. I bought a few holy waters from the last vendor and the blessed armours for Yuna and Auron (which I only used 1 holy water). Start with Tidus, Auron and Yuna. Tidus always starts with initiative so cast Hastaga on the party. Then swap in Wakka first chance you get to replace Tidus. Cast shell on Yuna, Auron and Wakka in that order. First attack you get with Wakka cast silence attack. If you can Haste Wakka, if not it's ok because he's fairly fast. Try to knock him down by 20k before summons and then hit him one after the other. He spends the only turns he get using multi-absorb and doesn't have a chance to hit back. He's pretty much neutered the whole fight. I did have to revive Auron once before I got the silence on because the blessed armour didn't proc and I made an out of turn mistake. But reloaded and beat him 3 more times to try and improve it. If your under leveled just grind a bit around the save point. Wakka was doing 3k hits, Auron 4k and the summons were all 9999. It's important to leave the aeons for last, to avoid the cleave hits. Don't give him a chance.

Which fight are you talking about? Neither Seymour Flux nor Yunalesca should have a point of no return on their respective save spheres. You should be able to still go and grind.

if you are too weak - you can use your Aoens or Overdrives to Overkill
at the start you can Talk with Yuna and Kimahri
other than that use - Haste, Bio, Reflec, Remedy, Protes, Shell
or on Seymor - Silence Attack, Dispel, ...
