Can you see the status effects on somewhere?

I mean can I see the darkness or poisoned icon somewhere on screen besides some stupid little animation? this is my second FF after 13 and on 13 all status effects was displayed next to name like a normal game

Unfortunately, you can only see them next to names when selecting targets for a buff to cast, e.g. when you are trying to cast Haste you will see who is under which status effect currently. But it won't display it constantly.

Luckily the game's visuals are fairly obvious in that respect and most of the time it's quite clear what's going on.

FFX-2 is more clear about it and has lots of icons displayed.

FFX doesn't usually go ham on statuses, though. Very often it's just one effect and it's very clear what it is. It also doesn't last between fights and clears at the end of each combat (unlike FFX-2 where several effects persist). That's probably why they thought they don't need too many visuals.
