Shady Duo however can be defeated more easily. Teach your Tonberry Darkness (consume Regal Crown x1) which hits all enemies and ignores defense - two casts are usually enough if you're a decently high level (40ish+). You have to hit before Sleep Sprout gets its powder attack off, though, or you've basically lost. It's a bit random sometimes, but as your levels increase you'll find you beat them more consistently.
The best way to level (before Chapter 5) is to beat the Hell Breeders team in the arena over and over. If they're giving you trouble, you can use Telekinesis to instantly kill any of them (also works for leveling YRP). Once you unlock the Cactuar Cup (only possible in Chaptrer 5), you can also fight the Frailea Gang which is even more XP.
As for feeding fiends, that's a divisive issue. Some people grind things like Machina Panzer over and over for the +50HP feed, or a variety of other small stat boosts.
Me personally, I find stat-raising a waste of time until you get to the Farplane Cup. I go straight for Almighty Shinra + Sleep Sprout, use that to unlock Numerus, and then fight it over and over for Iron Dukes, which are the most efficient way to raise stats by several orders of magnitude. But it's up to you how you approach it.
The Impale-based Machina team is of course the most overpowered, however it requires Invincible and so much stat-raising that you basically already need to be farming Numerus (at which point you've already beaten anything relevant anyway). In terms of time efficiency, I've always found it easiest to go with Almighty Shinra. He comes with nearly maxed stats, a multi-hit attack, and full breaks - he requires almost no investment and absolutely obliterates any enemy in the game except Trema (who just takes time). Once you've unlocked your golden goose Numerus, you can do whatever you like because you can max any fiend you wish in 10 minutes flat.
Thanks for the tips man, it is greatly appreciated. So the Shady Duo I agree its moreso an issue of time before the Sleep Sprout gets its powder attack or both monsters cast ultima. I saw a tip via the youtuber Darkkekfa to use bribe to get Speed Bracers from the Chocobo Kings for 100k gil. So this will help my team become faster. Also is there tips for beating Shinra because I have the feeling I will just use a Cat Nip x Thief build to beat him supportted by 2 warriors spamming Sentinel and Phonix downs.
But thanks for the grinding tip again, this will greatly help and I just wish to add that I am currently just trying to spawn the Farplane Cup.
YRP should be lvl 90+ though (but that's trivial to do with Lady Luck).
You can substitute Rikku for a fiend, if you like, ideally one that ignores Defense. But you don't need to, and you certainly don't need to grind stats. For REALLY easy mode, use Sleep Sprout.
