Game Difficulty?
Hello,

I've been thinking about maybe getting this game. So far i've played both FF7 and finished 8. I don't remember much about FF7 since that was just far too long ago. However, i do remember that 8s difficulty, especially all the random fights, were way too easy. Just summon a GF and the fight was over, and that was already overkill in most cases. You could fall asleep with your head on the controller and probably still win most fights.

So, how challenging/difficult is X/X-2 compared to the others?

Thanks for any answers in advance. :)

8 was the easiest final fantasy... to do all of 10's content is very difficult, though to complete the game isnt too bad but lots of extra quests can be quite challenging... I would recommend getting this game though as it is one of my favourite games of all time.

I think the last actual hard game that came out with the Final Fantasy brand name would be Tactics. All these games are fairly straight forward, you either buff up or strategize

there is a few boss fights that are hard, but its the extra side stuff that is really bumps up the difficulty.

i havent really played 10-2 so i cant say anything on that but 10 is an amazing game

Did you Say Final Fantasy Tactics?! Now there's a Dragon Age equivalent game waiting to be planned and produced..

Within story, FFX tends to be fair, maybe slightly hard at some fights. The overall worst of it, if you aren't aware of what is coming, will probably be at Mt. Gagazet, or Zanarkand. But you also have the option of grinding, and a smart setup can smash the difficulty.

FFX-2 is a bit easier overall in my opinion, though this might just be how the class system worked out, but some fights are actually difficult... normally. If you bother messing with the Creature Creator system then the main story is a joke, and only a select few enemies will put up any resistance... but even they can be beaten within a minute.

You can always out level content which will make the game easier than normal. If you follow the storyline, fight only those fights that you need to fight, you will find the game to be very satisfying.

Pro tip from me, if you do pick up this game. back on the ps2, way way back, I invested all my leveling spheres into the Aeon, or the summons instead of my characters. the game discourages this in various ways but I kept strong at it until the very last boss fight.

long story short, dont do what I did. It makes the game unbeatable. invest in your characters, not the aeons.

Not true, it doesn't make the game even close to unbeatable. The final boss can always be beaten, even if you invest only in Aeons and never touch the Sphere Grid.
