was the lake-sex scene censored in the remastered version

The scenes are identical. Also, it's a classical "did they or didn't they?" scenario in that we don't know WHAT happened there, exactly.

Luckily you've heard wrong. The scene isn't shortened, I guess people call it a "sex scene" because all the hugging and kissing kinda imply or stand-in for sex.

You do know only FF7 has a sex scene with Cloud and Tifa at the last part of the game were they were alone in the airship. I wonder if they delete it so Aeris fans wouldn't know that the two really love each other.

Rubbish. They stay up all night talking, and it ends with Tifa leaning her head on Cloud's shoulder as everyone else comes back. The camera pans away, and AT MOST this could be a hidden kiss. Unless Cloud does a Braver and Omnislashes Tifa upside and down in 2 seconds.

There's no way a mainstream game like FF would ever do more than innuendo or allusion. Nothing explicit will ever be shown or even discussed in a main FF title. Ever.

This is in fact the weirdest outlier, as it's PRETTY close to being very explicit in many different ways. There's a couple of scenes there which - while not entirely visible - could be construed in explicit ways. And the entire nature of the establishment is, of course, not veiled or alluded but so clear as day it's literally mentioned in dialogue.

I'm very, very anxious to see what they'll do with it in the FF7 remake. It's very borderline for the mainstream market in Japan, and I'm not entirely sure how they got it past the execs in the first instance... I sort of expect it'll be much more heavily censored in this day and age.
