SK boss crash?

[**SPOILERS** if you've somehow never played the game before **SPOILERS**]

I'm getting a repeatable bug during the Dome Trials boss fight against the Spectral Keeper.

I am playing at 1080p on Low settings.

Every time I start the fight and move Auron behind the SK, the game's video will freeze and sound continues to play (on rare ocasions I can play 2-3 more moves before this happens). After about 5-10 seconds I am shown my desktop and given control over the game again.

The problem is, no matter how I try to alt-tab back into the game it displays my desktop as the game's video and not the game itself. I cannot see what I am doing in game at all. I've had this happen during other fights but they were one time things and I could not retrigger the bug.

EDIT: At this point I've tried verifying the game cache, playing on different resolutions, graphic settings, and windowed modes, F1's Turbo Mode, and even reinstalled the game completely; all of which have done nothing to fix this.

EDIT 2: Tried SK fight via cloud save on another laptop with better specs, all worked out and seems to be GPU related (see comment 7). Will continue to play on the original PC to look for more trouble spots until end game.

Is this happening during the spectral keeper fight for you as well, or another point in the game?

During the spectral keeper fight. I think there is a specific bug in that battle, but I don't know how to fix it.

I only meet the minimum specs posted on the store page to run the game. What about your specs?

We could either possibly rule out or point the blame at hardware depending on what you're running in your PC.

Exact same scenario here. Solid 25-30fps at all times and have tried various video options to solve this. Going to probably try turbo mode as everything else in my OP has not worked.

EDIT: Turbo mode only accelerated the bug.

Not to bump my own thread but it seems to be video card related. Tried the fight on another laptop with a more up to date discreet GPU and was able to get through the battle just fine. This could be totally wrong but based on the above conversation, I'm going to blame it on the GPU.

This was on the same cloud save file so I guess something graphical during this fight pushes my 9600M GT too hard and makes it temporarily freak out and fail.

I'm going to continue the game on the PC used in my OP to check for any more of these trouble spots throughout the rest of the game.

Same here. Happened with me today. If you have found out something post here please. I don't have a better computer so I can't play anymore.

My vcard is a 9500GT, but I already tried to play it on the lowest settings and the problem continues.

Also, it's not the first time for me. This crash happened in at least two other boss fights already, but when it happened then I would reset the game and it would be normal again without any crash. Now i'm stuck, as you are.

I honestly think if you're at the minimum requirements you can't get past the sk fight. Something during that battle is too much for the specs and it'll never run long enough to get through it.

I find it very strange though, because the fight immediately after against Yunalesca was completely fine for me. Haven't started sin yet, as I have been side-questing. Will update how that goes.

Made it to end game without an issue, including fighting Ultima Weapon and Omega.

Not sure if this is important any more, but I had this crash and managed to get through this battle. To put it simply I set every posible option to the lowest I could. That includes the resolution and brightness.
