downloading is super slow

so i just got this game and i went to download it and it said that it will take one day 12 hours to download, of course i didnt by it untill it started to download at abou 2 % per hour, anything i can do to speed it up or is this how long the game takes to download?

It's a very big game, partly because it's actually 2 games. If your internet is slow, it can take a while.

ok, i figured that was the case but i wanted to check cause even skyrim and some of the other rpgs like ff9,8 and 7 didnt take that long.

It requires 37GB of your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ drive. Of course it's going to take a lot of time if you're internet connection is slow. Let me give you an idea.

If you don't want to pirate this game, you can always use ebay. You can get a new copy for $9 on ebay, pre-owned ones are somewhere around $5. FF-X2 costs the same. I bought 2 new copies for my collection a few months ago on ebay. No, i am not lying. New FF-X copies (Ps2 version) are not hard to find, there are tons of them on ebay.

You can even get the international version if you want FF-X with japanese voice actor + english subtitles.

IMO the remastered version is a complete trash. I played this game on my Playstation Vita. Yuna & Tidus faces look ugly AF. And the facial expression is gone because Squenixfaygot destroyed the original faces.

wow some people are really picky.
I like the HD remaster because the game looks better than the PS2 version overall.
some people may beg the differ but if you compare the HD remaster on the highest settings to the PS2 version on PCSX2 you can clearly tell the difference.
And if you don't like the new faces, there are texture replacements that kinda revert back to the PS2 faces.

i dont care about the graphics or whatnot, i just wanted to know if it taking a really long time was normal and my wifi was just making it slower, or if it was something else wrong. my wifi does suck so ya, thats most likely it.

you can try switching download servers in steam settings.
Is steam downloading with your native internet download speed?
Do a speedtest on speedtest.net

Even at the speeds of my nearest decent WiFi connection (which is weirdly enough my grocery store), it took over an hour and a half to download. Hope you've got snacks ready.

These days games seem to have substantionally long downloads annoyingly. I just looked at GTA 5 to play that again and on here it is over 70gb! It is honestly ridiculous, it feels like in this day an age developers suddenly don't feel like they need to compress things anymore or something... It is painful because like yourself my download speeds aren't that great.

While it's certainly not a nice thing to face when your internet isn't great, do keep in mind that these file sizes aren't just the result of laziness. It's always a world of trade-offs and compromises, and that implies that someone, somewhere feels dissatisfied with something.

I sure would be annoyed if game performance suffered because things are stored in a compressed form just so some people can download it a bit more easily, even though I myself have 500/500mbs internet. Same situation, just the reverse. You can never please everyone.

it was really slow, since i was using my laptop and i needed to use it for other things sometimes, i downloaded mostly at night, it took 3 days to download but then it ran like a dream.
