Looking forward to it!
As the other commenter said:
Online is mandatory.
Local/Couch is bonus.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeell... not really.
It depends on what or how you like to play. I get together with my friends at weekend nights very often and we love local games to play, competitive or cooperative, so I am always looking forward for games with local. I don't really care about online games, it's really fun to play games with your friends right there with you. For me, its much much more fun than online. So... I wouldn't say its mandatory but of course it's ideal if they have both, so everybody it's happy and more people play it!
I'll be buying this as soon as its out of early access, looks great! :)
Online is essential.
It's that simple.
The title of the thread is on point as well, 2015 lads.
I like Local play too, but for most users that is a rarity, while Online is often accessible.
Besides, you act as if Online is horrible - with a Voice Chat, it is close to the same.
Weeeeeeeeeell.... no. Again, It all depends on how you like to play, for me, online is not essential. It might be essential to sell more games, but not for the game itself. Because I agree that for most users today is rare to play local, but that does not make it wrong, it's just the way some games are. Nonetheless, they've said they will add online so just talking in general.
Also, voice chat doesn't compare with having a couple of friends over, having a few beers, talking and playing having a good time and laugh all together. But some people maybe don't like that, and prefer online which is ok, so, for some people online it's essential, for me, local is essential because I don't play online. Who is right? JESUS OF COURSE, AND JESUS PLAYS LOCAL COOP!
Just kidding, as I said, both modes working would be ideal and everybody is happy! I'm not against online, I just don't like when people get all crazy and blaming the dev like they owe everybody online multiplayer in their evil local coop game.
Does not make it essential.
Some people out-there actually has couch friends to play games like this with.
However, in the modern gaming world, it is a bonus, whereas Online is essential for any MP game.
CS:GO having Online is essential, it having LAN is a bonus.
Ultimately this is a pointless discussion - this game will thankfully have both Online and Local, so, good on the devs.
This however is a fun coop platformer.
Don't need to have online
Well, it does tho :) I personally think it is a must have tho. I mean, not everybody plays with their best friend who also happens to be their neighbour. And an online coop just gives more possibilities for you guys.
That said, we have an online feature and we need all you guys to playtest it and feedback it :)!
But for me games like this I prefer playing with a couch buddy so I can actually punch him/her if they mess up
Due to technical limitations of keyboard input (maximum number of keys pressed at once) unfortunately you cannot play local co-op without an xinput device. One gamepad at least will be needed.
We've been looking for workarounds, but at the time there is no proper solution at hand.
If this is the reason you bought the game, I can understand if you are disappointed. You can either enjoy the singleplayer or play via online co-op. We will include a note in the description to inform people about the fact that you will need a gamepad for local co-op.
