Well duh, its p2p. Unless your playing ranked then its on dedicated servers.
And what? Its the same thing in Call of Duty
I'm talking about the fact that Ubisoft is not protecting its players IPs. This was a thing from the start and never changed.
Take a look at these videos so you understand :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7R4zaxN7OZA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYllKZ6olnM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOTosHn7ZCc
And I'm telling you its pretty standard not to protect players IP addresses in online multiplayer games.
I invite you to read this : http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/rainbow-six-siege-ip-online-multiplayer/
And again as I stated its pretty normal to pull peoples IP address from online games. Hence why I offered an example such as call of duty. Which you got very defensive about for some reason.
If your that worried about, simply play through a vpn service such as AnnonVpn.
Really? Pretty normal? Please enlighten me on how to do so?
What I know is that Siege decided to use peer-to-peer VoIP. So, obtaining another player's IP address is pretty trivial since the connection is direct to one another. This shouldn't be the case. Gamers can be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Broadcasting a player's IP address is a security vulnerability
Most FPS who care about their players tend to offer their own client-server chat infrastructure so that it doesn't rely on p2p VOIP and thus doesn't leak players' IPs.
I assume I'm talking to someone who's got knowledge about these things.
Playing through a VPN exposes you to "rubberbanding" and "bandwitch fluctuations". Not recommended for playing video games and it's not the players duty to find a solution to what is Ubisoft obligation.
Your only going to get rubberbanding or "bandwidth fluctuations" if your using some cheap freebie vpn service. If you pay for a "real" vpn service then those issues won't happen and ironicly you will get better speeds when dealing with things such as youtube and or twitch which most service providers throttle.
Most fps do broadcast your ip address. Most online games broadcast your ip address. If your not savy enough to set up your router/modem to prevent ddosing then you should stick with a vpn. Not that it matters that much because the "people are ddosing everyone in ranked" isn't really a thing. Keep salty though OP. Your doing a real great job at it.
Dude, you really don't know what you're talking about. Even big companies are having big issues concerning protection against DDos and you expect a lambda player to be "savy" enough to "configure" his router to "protect" from ddos. You talking about things you don't know makes this discussion a lot funnier than I expected ^^
Even when using a paid VPN, you have to know that you're not the only one using that exit point/server. There are a lot of other users, and the thing is, you'll always get rubberbanding no matter what. Ask any "savy" guy out there about playing multiplayer with VPN or even google, you'll get a way better answer.
Finally, I didn't insult you, I didn't write this message especially for you, so why the attack on me? I have more than 600 hours playing this game dude, I know what I'm talking about ^^
So next time, rather than calling me salty, get a better knowledge and stop talking about things you dont know ^^
Cheers
