Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Bought the game, uPlay asks for activation key on startup
Hi all,
So I purchased the game not having played the free weekend, and I can't seem to get the game to start since it keeps asking for a CD-key (with no CD-key section available in Steam). While the free weekend "DLC" is showing in Steam, I only have the full game ownership and the WW uPlay activation ones checked, so that shouldn't be causing any conflicts. I've already tried restarting Steam, restarting uPlay, uninstalling and reinstalling the latest uPlay, rebooting my PC, and unlinking and relinking Steam to uPlay, but still no dice. Anyone manage to resolve this problem?

FIXED: After contacting Ubi support and having them say it wasn't their problem, I simply verified game cache, around 30MB of files had to redownload, but now everything is working.

So the steam version is the free version? Try to start the game and look if a notification with a code shows up. If it doesn't you'll probably have to wait until the free weekend is over.

I don't think it's the free version, since I didn't install the game prior to purchasing the full version, but the free weekend ownership "DLC" is in my library (albeit not installed), and the CD-key section for the game is not available in Steam/the overlay. Hopefully it gets sorted out once the free weekend ends.

Log out and close both steam and uplay.

Log into steam and boot the game.

It will be fixed after the free weekend, but if you want it to work faster, contact ubisoft/uplay support.

Steam and uplay now shouldn't need the key. The game itself has some imbedded stuff which will automatically register the game as valid. Try reinstalling, if it doesn't work then send in a ticket to ubisoft, and they should respond in 2-3 business days.
In your game DLC's, there should be one for full game ownership and one for WW uplay Activation.
