How does the Casual Matchmaking actually work?
Me and a few friends jump into Siege Casual matchmaking and play a few games, and have been doing so consistently for the last few nights, but everytime we play, we are nearly almost always up against players who are 50 to 100 levels higher than ourselves, and much more skillful.

For the last three nights in a row, we've played about 10 or so games, each session ending with only 1 win, because we get outplayed and or outskilled by our enemy.

This isn't a case of "git gud noob" I am just curious to know if the matchmaking is working how I imagine it should be - Teaming you up with and against players of similar skill. This really, really doesn't feel like the case here.

I've just finished a session for tonight, we played 13 games and didn't win a single one, because each player on the enemy team was better than us, not just in level, but in skill, we didn't stand a chance, and I'm finding it very difficult to play a game where I spend most of my time looking through a static camera, because my enemies are too good to go up against.

This should answer your questions

Edity for the lazy ones:
Casual and ranked both have seperate MMRs that makes it so you queue with people of your general "skill" levels.
As nothing to do with player levels.

It doesn't really, This was posted back in september so I guess it's safe to say that these changes have already gone live?

How does this explain that I'm going up against Pros, when I'm still a beginner at this game, I've only recently hit level 50, yet I'm being put up against level 140+ players, I'm not at all surprised by this either.

I've also never touched ranked, so my casual MMR shouldn't be affected in anyway.

Please can you ELI5?

I mean it's casual.
If you want skill-based matchmaking you go for ranked.

Understandable, but there should be a balance in Casual, I'm not expecting every game to be 50/50 in terms of skill, I just don't understand how I managed to play 13 games and get pretty much steam rolled in every single one of them, It doesn't feel balanced at all.

I'll play ranked, when I'm good and ready, when I understand the maps better and am actually somewhat decent at the game, and the only way for that to happen is for me to play Casual, which as of quite recently seems to becoming an impossible task.

Player level as no meaning beside they have played for longer. If they have the playstyle of a copper, then its not that much better then a fresh level 20 with some background in FPS, even if they are level 200.

However, according to what I sent then someone could theorically spent 300 hours playing ONLY rank, rank to high gold/plat while never entering casual post level 20, sudenly enter casual and end up against very low levels/low mmr players

Chances of that happening are very low, but it happens.
Just had a game playing with 4 other friends against 3 plats and 2 golds. 3 of us have been playing since nov/dec and all average 200-300 hours of play, 2 of our friends just started about 2 weeks ago and are barely level 20.
Us 3 would be low to high gold in ranking IF we ranked(We're all diamonds-master in overwatch for comparision), our 2 friends are silvers in overwatch, they're pretty new to gaming as a whole. That's pretty much copper to bronze in R6.
We got destroyed.

It happens, but it shouldn't happen too often.
