It's a tool to help you enter a building and push the defenders. What use would it be for the defenders?

Give a riot shield to our Lord so that he may not be shot in the back whilst he smites the opposition in front of him

But the lord is immune to bullets, the shield on his gun is just so his gun doesn't get destroyed and hes forced to kill the enemy team with his knife.
