Steam Deck issues

Hi, I have Elite on Steam with 1000+ hrs, I got the version with unlimited expansions included from back on the kickstarter.. I am now trying to play on steam deck.

When I launch I am prompted to enter my 25 digit key, when I do this I get "Please check and try again" every time, this is whether I use my Elite cd key or the Horizons cd key I have.

The main screen also has a prompt saying "THIS FRONTIER ACCOUNT DOES NOT OWN ELITE DANGEROUS, AND IT'S NOT LINKED TO ANY THIRD PARTY ACCOUNTS"

"If you have a 25 digit code to redeem, you can do it here".


Does anybody have any idea where I am going wrong please?

Is your Steam account and Frontier account linked?

Yes, when I log in to the store I can see my Elite keys and it says "Your account is linked to Steam"

On PC when you start the launcher, the button in the centre should read "Log in using Steam." It has happened to me on occasion that the button read something else and asked for a key. When this happens, restarting the launcher, or in worst case scenarios, the computer, usually fixed it. I don't have a steam deck, but I believe they work similarly to PC? Anyway from what I know, if you have the game on Steam, you have to log in through Steam, it won't recognise the key.

Just keep in mind that this game does not support playing it on Steam deck. Problems to launch it might be related to this.

The launcher needs .NET 4.8 to run properly, so you'll probably need to look into some of the proton tools to get that installed.

Thanks guys, I got this sorted now - not sure what the issue was, but I verified file integrity on the deck installation, rebooted the deck, and it then allowed me to connect.. I could also see Odyssey which was something I was not able to see on deck at all before. Anyway, it's all sorted now, and running nice and smooth. Thanks for all the replies!
