Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

New Patch, new bug
After the update today, every time I try to update gamma settings the game locks up. Any one else experiencing this issue?

Just coming here to report the same. It doesn't seem to be an issue with Horizons, just Odyssey.

I have to end the game with task manager.

I'm running the game on an Intel laptop with RTX3070 graphics if that's relevant at all.

*edit* I've submitted the problem via the Frontier 'Issue tracker'.

i have found a way. it's a bit complicated, but you can change the gamma value this way:

open the settings.xml file, you can find it here:
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics

there you will find the value:
<GammaOffset>0.750000</GammaOffset>
0.75 are my gamma settings. set the value so that it fits your monitor. the higher the value, the brighter the picture.

!!! save and overwrite the original only after you have made a backup copy !!!

have a good trip and good luck out there ;)

I'll try that, thanks.

*edit* Well, editing the file was no problem, however the game is still too dark. I tried your setting at first and then 0.95 but it didn't seem to make a difference.

I then deleted the option file so the game would re-build it so I could start again but the damn gamma screen automatically pops up and that's game over.

I think I'll just wait for a fix but thanks for troubleshooting tip.

you can also set negative values (very dark) and if i'm not completely mistaken, the maximum positive (brighter) value goes beyond 1. i think the maximum was 1.75 or even 2.

That did it! I set gamma to 1.5 and it's now perfect. I wasn't sure what the parameters were for the setting so hadn't been going over 1.0.

Thanks Cmdr!
