Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

Click play button but nothing happens.
When I click "Play" button the launcher freeze for a couple seconds and nothing happens. The wierd thing is sometime it work and launch the game, but not most of the time. However, singleplay combat training work flawlessly.

Here's is what I already did:

- Reinstall the game.

- Install both 3.5 and 4.5 dotNET framework.

- Run the launcher as administrator.

- Got "Incorrect manifest checksum" error when trying to validate game files.

Ps. Sorry for my bad English.

Still having the same problem. No response for my ticket also. Does anyone have a solution for this?

My ticket got responsed. The support guy told me that the problem is on my end, more specifically my router settings. However, after I tried to changed the setting as the support guy suggest, I still can't get the launcher to work. But recently I change my ISP and new router, now I don't have problem anymore.

PS. Sorry for my bad English. <3
Go Windows Control Panel\Clock, Language and Region
Click Region
Select Format English (United Kingdom)
Click Ok

Launcher worked for me...

Good Luck...
The same problem is happening to me, and nothing seems to work.
[FIXED]

I'm glad I've read the whole thread before trying anything as one of earlier advances suggested a solution and saved me lots of time.

To fix unresponsive play button, it's enough to select language other than letting launcher use system defaults:
settings -> select language -> english (or whatever else from the list that suits you)
I can also confirm that the above fix works for non steam version as well.
Open launcher, login.
Top row of options: My account Options Support etc.
Click options, then select language at the bottom and change it from system default to your language.
[SOLUTION]

I had the same problem like you. Neither 64bit or 32bit version worked on Win10-64bit

Here is the fix:
Go to your System management>System and Security>Windows Firewall> and on the left side: allow an app or a feature through the windows firewall.
Scroll until you see Elite:Dangerous Executable
tick the boxes for private network and public network
run the ED launcher as admin (just to be sure)
tadaa!:steamhappy:
I fixed it with selecting the language as well,
it doesn't matter if you have "system default" selected or already a specific language : I had "English selected and got the problem, I just openend the windows, click on OK and now it works
Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Mine was an awkward one. For the 32 bit version changing the language fixed it, but for the 64 bit that was not enough. I also had to add the 64 bit exe to the firewall exceptions. (Strangely the 32 bit version was already there, but no 64 bit. It's odd, as I played both versions before without problem.)
I know I'm bumping up an extremely old thread, but I was having this issue and nothing I found on this forum or others worked. I opened a ticket with Frontier and, to their credit, they responded quickly with troubleshooting steps that corrected the issue for me. I would like to point out that I did not uninstall/reinstall my graphics driver, but did every step up to that point. Hopefully this will help someone else out there!

This particular issue can have a number of underlying causes which can be a little tricky to pin down.

Apologies for the incoming wall of troubleshooting but below are some fixes for the most common causes:

Open up 'Programs and Features' in Windows (you can type this into the start menu to find it easily). In the list that is shown, please locate all entries that begin with the text 'Microsoft Visual C++' and remove each of these using the one by one.

Once all of the specified entries have been removed, please restart your PC to remove any lingering files and settings. Once your PC is back up and running you'll then be able to re-install them directly from Microsoft. Please open and download the files located at the following two Microsoft support pages:

1. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26999
2. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679

As a final step, please restart your computer once more or if the installers direct you otherwise, please follow their instructions.

Next up - Please quit the launcher and any other non-crucial applications before you proceed!

Open Windows Features by typing Windows Features in Start > Search.
Turn off all available versions of .NET in this window (these should be v3.x and v4.x), click OK.
Restart your computer.
Open Windows Features again.
Turn on all available versions of .NET in this window (once again v3.x and v4.x, and we only need the parent options, so don't worry about the child options in the tree, as these are for developers). Click OK.
Restart your computer again. Windows Update should repair all .NET components at this point.
Start the launcher.
If Windows asks you to restart your computer at any of these steps, please do so. Once the whole process is done restart one final time.

And lastly, a clean installation of your graphics drivers:

Download a copy of the most recent driver for your card but don't install it just yet. Save it to your desktop or some other easily accessible location.

Now, download the Display Driver Uninstaller from this link:

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Run this and choose the option from the drop box that applies to your card (Nvidia/AMD/Intel). When it asks to reboot into safe mode in order to perform the uninstall process, click yes and allow the program to proceed.

After the uninstallation process is complete, install the new driver package you previously downloaded followed by a reboot of the system to ensure the new drivers are properly initialized.

If there's no change following this, can you get back to us with a Dxdiag as follows:
Click the "Start" menu
Type/Search for "dxdiag" and open it.
In the new window, click on the button labelled "Save all information"
A "Save As.." dialogue box appears. Choose a handy destination and click "Save".
Attach to your response.
The problem still happens. I've done all this crap.

Dude you're replying to an ancient thread, are you a necromancer? xD

Anywho,

Click play nothing happens (blue > gray > blue):
Top right of launcher, click "Options > Select language... > English/System > Accept".
Restart launcher and it should work.
If you're still not able to play, you need to update MS C++ (2015 redist x86/x64) and .net.
