Try wiping your ED graphics settings folder and then rerun.
Second thing : resolution. Here i recommend to use Fidelity CAS upscaling and then play with supersampling values. I could get down to 0.65 while still being able to read everything at easy (at 0.5 it was a blurry mess for me), but you might have different comfortable value depending on preferences and your native resolution.
In the end it doesnt matter if the minimum requirements are a flat out lie.
Recommened is a R280x and the optimisation almost non existent since even modern high end card users report heavy FPS dips with eye candy settings. If you buy a Video card for about 500-800€ then you expect high Framerates on high settings.
I can play horizon on 1440p (or 1080p upscaled to 1.50x) with mixed ultra and high settings with almost zero lags.
Now i struggle with 1080p with 1x on low settings. And under recommended GPU i understand that this GPU can handle mixed Medium-High settings with a stable FPS.
I even have no problem to go down with resolution to save Databandwith for my GPU.
But these Jagged edges make these resolutions unplayable since i even cannot read my onboard computer. I tried Reshade for Antialiasing but those shaders cannot detect the jagged edges. So i bet that the ingame shaders have the same problem. Im sure the complains on steam and Reddit were much less if players could turn down the resolution.
And that there are already Programs who disable certain Shaders to boost performance just confirms what many people here say.
Technically Odyssey is in the Alpha Phase. And yet they release it as final release.
Nothing is more shocking than the truth that some fans refuse to recognize and even defend such behavior. So it's no longer surprising that many publishers release half-finished garbage.
Edit:
Are you on AMD or nVidia? This sounds like a good idea. I was stuck with FSR but this just sclaes down so it looks like 800x600 in other games.
Therefore the three wise monkey aka ghosting.
Yes, the 1060 and the 980 are close. The 1060 is actually a bit slower, but the extra VRAM helps mitigate that in some games.
That's not the problem, or what I was on about though. He's saying his AMD 290 is on par with them... It's actually much closer to the 970 (and it's still not quite as good as that).

The R9 290 Tri-X is a custom card which is overclocked by Factory with a bigger Cooler.
Its on Par with the 290X (in some games faster and in some games slower)
And the 290X is on par with the 1060 (6GB) only 8% difference. Thats just a few frames which you will not recognize ingame. While playing you wont look all time long in the FPS counter.
Plus AMD optimized these cards with better drivers.
The card is with a old driver from about 2014 slower than modern drivers.
As the title of the Website already state.(Userbenchmark) these are pure Benchmarks with some Toaster tests like CS:GO and older Triple A titles.
But as i said in Post No. 50. The Problem is not the Hardware.
Its the game itself so this tech talk is absolute Offtopic.
If I want hardware advice then I ask my Vendor who knows my system since i bought my parts there.
As i wrote on Page 1 on this Thread i cannot afford a new GPU which were a real upgrade since i have bills to pay.
I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but this is really getting on my nerves as it doesn't solve my problem at all.
Cheers
It was a great card when it released...
The fact it's not melted/failed/burnt out yet, shows you got a good sample...
But unfortunately you'll have to face it at some point: that card is almost a decade old now... Over 9 years... In fact, it's about a year older than Elite Dangerous.
I know the weak point in my main rig is currently my GPU. It's a tough pill to swallow at the moment, but arguing about it doesn't help anyone.
Sorry fella. Just the way it is.
I was hoping if there is a solution like ingame settings or what is maybe possible through legal modifications.
Do you have a good solution for Hardware (eg RX 6500 , Gtx 1060 ,R9 290) in this level or not?
Instead you just keep telling same stuff i already know over and over again and just say i should face the realit and even dig out benchmarks etc. just to prove you are right.
People dont need to be Einstein to know that upgrade is always a solution.
The 500 - 800€ price class would have been a 6700 XT / 3060 in early 2022.
The 6900 & 3080 are not getting into the 800 € price class.
Horizion is a game from 2015, and you can play it in 1440p with those setting on a high end card from 2014? Yes, that should be normal.
The GTX 780 / R9 280x is the minimum specs for Odyssey.
Recomended is a NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 (6 GB VRAM) / AMD RX 580 (8 GB VRAM)
