VR controllers not working with the game

It makes me use my keyboard and mouse even while playing in VR.
I use oculus touch

This page just tells you how to set up for VR. It doesn't answer OP's question regarding controls.

OP is asking how to control the menu outside of VR. OP already set the controls to "Oculus Touch", which is what it should be set to. However, controls do not respond.

@Skypr - You have to go into the game's properties in your Steam library and disable Steam controller support. This, however, may not be your ultimate solution. I use an Xbox One controller for mine, which runs fairly well. I can control my ship the way I want and I'm able to do most operations. However, I'm still not able to control in-game menus. I'm still searching for that on my end. Sorry for taking over a year from your perspective on this. I just got the Quest 2 and started playing on ED in VR tonight.

Because the game does not support VR controllers. It's in the game description:

VR Support
The VR mode for this game requires the use of a gamepad or a keyboard and mouse.

Or alternatively, a HOTAS or HOSAS.
You can get those pretty cheap these days, if you are willing to spend even more, after getting a VR HMD.

Yep the best method of control in VR is a HOTAS with voice control (HCS voice packs on voice attack software) I still do keyboard and mouse in VR too for the challenge :)

You can acutally use touch controllers as a controller in ED. It's isnt VR controls though. It works like a controller.
