Also it's no wonder that framerates are high if you're running low-poly mode. :D
cheers
That's the thing to, even if i use ultra high setting the game doesn't change. It's like the imputs i place in the options aren't being considered by the game.
Btw, i already tried that fix, it gave me more fps, but again, my problem here is with the utterly bonkers graphics.
game used to run on ultra with zero problems, but now its like all the 3d object coordinates are absolutely f***d. ive tried verifying files, clearing my shader cache, resetting several pc settings and in game settings. and even tried to reinstall. all my drivers are up to date, but for some reason the coding translations are just garbage.
Otherwise it might be smth with the servers, idk.
What is particularly infuriating is that once in a while you can see it actually load the high quality LOD for a couple seconds where things look like they should and they just go away afterwards to being jaggy glitched out mud.
That gives me some hope, because it means this stuff is a propblem on the game's end and that way, it probably will get fixed with updates.
I'm currently verifying the files, i will try this later.
I also sent a support ticket with the same informations, hopefully, the devs can figure this out, if they come up with something useful, i will post it here.
I've been running Horizons just fine with my R9 270x for several years, but for odyssey, it is just completely unplayable.
There are stretched textures, artifacts, ultra low-res surfaces with missing details EVERYWHERE.
It does not matter what quality settings or resolutions I use, they are constant. This is the only game where I've experienced this happening.
FDev recommended a R9 300 series AMD GPU for Odyssey, which is only a few steps up from what I currently have.
Sure it probably would produce better FPS at high resolutions than what my card is capable of, but I'm not worried about that when I can't even see textures rendering properly!
---- EDIT ----
I would like to add, I've tried what Planewalker said: delete the GraphicsConfiguration.xml file located in the main game folder for Odyseey.
My experience is as follows:
Upon relaunching the game and entering a space station on foot, I noticed SOME of the textures were "fixed" momentarily (Namely the elevators), before switching back to the same bugged textures as before.
I'm really speechless...
Any support would be awesome, thanks.
I've also spoken to someone who said they made a report about the same issue and it was taken down? I hope this isn't true...
I'm dumb and don't know how to find stuff in the frontier forums, but please, keep us informed and feel free to link this discussion or copypaste anything i said.
This graphical bug is not present in Horizon, everything works fine there, this only happens in Odissey.
You can log in to both the bugtracker, support, and official forums with your normal ED login.
-in fact it is the correct way to do it if you need help.
There is an issue with the renderer/drawing calls in the engine atm.
Unfortunately, nvidia often needs a DDU before installing new drivers.
Looking at posts, the amount of some people expecting to play Odyssey at minimum requirements is too high. -being able to play horizons does not equate to being able to play Odyssey at the same settings, and i think too many don't understand that.
Odyssey wasn't ready for release for sure, and the person(s) who rushed for push are to blame for that alone. -they have some explaining or introspective deliberation to do imo.

So you're telling me rtx 3070 is outdated and i need to upgrade? I know my i7 is a little old, but dude you're pulling at straws. My 3070 could run the game on ultra before, now my pc can't even run it on the lowest settings in horizon or Odyssey and the textures are bugged for me. So next time you have the helpful tip of "it's the user's fault" at least have evidence and don't try to start a flame war. shake my head.
