Is it just me, or is the modified plasma charger way stronger than it has any right being?
Absolute damage.

Significantly faster projectile speed than PAs.

And an exceptionally high damage for its size, against human opponents as well as Thargoids.

Is there any reason to even use PAs anymore? It feels like the medium MPC is even stronger than a huge PA, against human enemies, no less...

Other than being more expensive, yes, the modified ones are simply better to use. Its best advantage, 6000 m/s muzzle velocity vs. 1500 m/s on the old ones.

The only reason to use the old ones is that you may not have the Mbooni permit yet. or the necessary guardian materials.

It's too bad you can't slot this weapon on Coriolis builds... would really like to plan some MPC builds prior to investing all the necessary engineering materials. By the way, what happens when you equip an experimental weapon stabilizer, then turn it off?

That's what EDSY is for. I said it and i'll repeat it again and again: people here should start phasing out Coriolis.

Speaking of which, here's a Cutter build for Thargoid Spires. which i'm sure lots of people will criticize inmediately :steammocking:

As for the EWS, never really experimented with that, tbh.

Very helpful, thanks! Also, Edsy is saying to turn the stabilizer off... apparently it still works when turned off, or it wouldn't tell you to do so.

Playing around a bit, I came up with a Federal Gunship[edsy.org] that should, by my calculations, be around that of a MPC-armed Corvette (and one of the highest possible absolute-damage builds in the game). Probably runs very hot, though, hence the thermal vent. Also lack of SCB really gimps survivability, but there simply wasn't enough power for one.

One tip about EDSY: the shortlink option is in the OPS button-export submenu.

About no space for SCB's, may i suggest something? Depending of what AX activity you want to use it for, downgrade the shields. Thargoid weapons often use Phasing Sequence, so shields are really only good in large ships like the Cutter. In medium ships, shields are only good as crash bumpers and to prevent scouts from damaging your modules.

My Challenger, which is used for Thargoid Spires, is based on a similar concept, so perhaps it might be useful as reference:
