What is Raxxla?
So I have never dug into the lore or such of ED in the hundreds of hours that I have played it. Maybe I should have? Mainly did bounty hunting in my early game, took a break, came back to the start of the Thargoid war and profited. Took my carrier to Colonia and back, funded by the xenodata along the way and plenty of firsts.
All said I have only recently heard of this Raxxla and can't really find any details of this grand search. From what I have seen? I am not interested to learn what I can and join the countless others in the search, but I have no idea where to begin. Who knows, a fresh mind may help and with the Thargoid Titans in their final legs, I look for something new to explore in game.

Look up the Dark Wheel by Robert Holdstock. Whether it's canon or not depends on who you ask...

There's also a few mentions in the in game codex.

For a quick summary, check the wiki entry:

Welcome to the rabbit hole...

Probably the unassuming fourth moon of some gas giant orbiting a secondary star more than 300,000 ls from the main star, just to discourage people from flying out that far to surface scan it and identify it for what it really is.

I was thinking the same thing from the little I have read about some people saying it might be so far out. Also saw something that said someone may have unknowingly been in its system?

Thanks, will give that a read sometime soon, though the wiki doesn't really seem to say much in regards to even starting the search.

As mentioned above, read the in-game Codex entry for Raaxla. It has clues to it's whereabouts. It's one of the biggest mysteries in the game right now. It's basically a carrot being dangled in front of explorers by FDev - and for some of us, it's very effective.

Eldorado and the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow all rolled into one.

My guess is that early on, FDev had some plan to make it possible to find Raxxla, but basically ran into unanticipated consequences of some in-game mechanics, and decided it wasn't going to work. So there are some bits and pieces that were going to be clues, that are now dead ends.

There's a monster thread on FDev's official forums, where people insist on absurdly convoluted theories. It's a familiar pattern from fandoms where fans just couldn't believe the writers or designers were winging it. At this point FDev could announce that Raxxla was not in the game, and people would be arguing that's just another clue and that if you put the punctuation marks from the announcement in an XY grid and overlaid it on the galaxy, it looks like an arrow pointing to a locked region.

A waste of one's limited lifespan.

Damn, I just wasted all of June in that case.

What if it is something Nobody would expect.
What if
Raxxla is not just a place, but a being, and a planet and people ONCE named for it, that followed it like it was a god.

SCO won't make a difference. It will be a rocky world. Nobody scans those because they don't pay anything.

Explorers don't explore because of credits. They explore because of the unknown. A rocky world out there may trigger their interest, and credits will be the last thing they will think about while going to check it out.

Exactly, though credits are nice to help keep the carrier going once the war ends. (Even if I have years of maintainence fee's already saved up) And the SCO actually helps with the tedium of scanning all planets
That said, from the little I can understand I don't think it will be quite so plain as a simple rocky world. There has to be something of at least some value or interest wherever it may be. Such as lots of resource rich belts.
