I think the Quest 3S was just released for about $300usd.
Both headsets will provide a good VR experience but its really dependent on your PC. I would recommend a gaming rig with a NVIDIA 4 series graphic card (or similar)

or card board DIY

Been trying to sell mine for 400$ on craiglist and few other sites. Just too many ppls doesnt know how to save money if they really want it. I had few wanted to give me 150$, etc a bunch of kids in these days.
beware buying those cheap ones, many have told me that are garbage. So idk i never use those less price. I remember getting the VR headset for PS4, man that was trash and glad i could refund it. But this one Vive Cosmo, i cannot send it back sadly. Google it if you want more details on it. I have dark blue one.
If you or anyone interesting, add me and we can figure out something :)
Since then I switched to a HP G2 still play with it and had but one problem with it , the cable but the Co. fixed it on all models now. It's not the cheapest but it's one of the best, I'd even say better than the index. There's a mod you can do with it that increases your FOV a lot

But for an all around best bang for your bucks I'd go with an oculus meta quest 2 or 3 if budget allows but their bad sides is that you have to buy a lot of things which should come standard separately

Edit: Keep in mind that you almost have to get a HOTAS if you buy a headset unless you can remember ALL the keyboard controls and use them without looking... and even then sometimes you still have to look under your headset to look at your keyboard with a HOTAS but it really is how the game should be played... HOTAS n VR
imho... the best option for VR right now as i type this is the meta quest 3... the resolution is almost crystal clear the best i have tried yet and it is very affordable £470 i last cheacked or nearabouts.
the best thing about meta quest 3 is that it works, it isnt glitchy and bug filled rage experience like valve index and its rubbish steamVR app.
also you dont need basestations... the tracking is amazing. the size is great too.
i was so impressed with the meta... defo top pick for VR
you dont need hotas at all..... with meta quest 3 you can see everything in your room in realtime with a simple push of a button on the controller.
so you can see everything in real time... augmented reality is a thing.
if you are serious about buying VR.... first i would strongly recommend before spending any money.
find your local VR games cafe..... and go mess about in there for a hour or two trying all sorts of differant games they offer, lots of people have sickness issues you just dont know for sure until you try it for any lengh of time.
How's the playtime with the quest 3, I heard it was a little disappointing like 2 hours between recharge?
To tell you the truth it's the only thing that prevents me from buying one right now
The fact that it's battery operated and we all know batteries will fail at one point or the other... that's my big issue with it, finite number of recharges
Everyone can google around about this, but there is one post on FS2020 forums where someone quotes an MS employee who said the following:
"As of Nov. 1, 2026 for consumers and Nov. 1, 2027 for commercial customers, Windows Mixed Reality will no longer be available for download via the Mixed Reality Portal app, Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR, and Steam VR beta, and we will discontinue support."
thus why i downgraded back to 10 so i can keep using my reverb g2 .
I'll probably buy something else before that happens, (in a year or so) the way meta is going it's probably going to be one of those
