Carrier question
Finally got it!!! My outstanding question is: do I have to have a shipyard so I CAN store my ships on the carrier?

you must activate shipyard service

You can store ship and modules for free as owner, but shipyard and modules services are required to storing by other cmdrs.

I have been researching a bit recently because I'm thinking of getting one soon. From what I know, the ability to store ships and modules are free for the owner, and the carrier modules for that only have to be bought if you want those options for other people.

As for other basic options that even the owner needs to buy the module in order to use them, those would be refuel, repair and armoury.

Below is the official information

Although many valuable materials are available by veteran commanders when searching, we recommend that you bookmark it until you get a rough idea of the atmosphere first. (Despite the official information, it is quite difficult to get to it lol)

Thx all!!! My next question (and one I have tried to find the answer too), what service do I need to have in order to restock limpets?

Nope.

You don't need a shipyard or outfitting on your own carrier, unless you want other people to be able to use them. Those two services are always available for the owner.

Thx, that's the one site I DID NOT go to :)

yes, must activate the module
As the carrier owner, you don't even need those two modules installed. Carrier owner gets their own personal shipyard and outfitting, separate from the one that can be installed for other people to use.

The only modules the owner needs installed to use are... Well... Everything else besides shipyard/outfitting.

I found a way to get the limpits in storage and my Phyton, load up the Python with limpits (128), fly to carrier, use inventory transfer to carrier. Slow going, but it works (unless there is a faster way), using the Advanced Maintaince does not work, says the limpits are not activated.

Bear in mind you can only buy limpets if you have a limpet controller on that ship.

Which I do, the Python is my mining ship :)

Just checking.

There are 3 basic modules you need for the carrier - rearm, refuel, repair. I think the repair will show no limpets available if you don't also have rearm, but I fit all 3 immediately so I don't know how they interlink.

I do plan for all 3, I got refuel for now. Getting the carrier was step 1, I will be taking the other steps as well :)

Getting a carrier for the very first time, is a sweet experience.
