Finding Pledged Ships

So I am trying to help my power and do their weekly errands, one of which involves finding and destroying ships that are pledged to rival powers. I have been to several locations, but for the life of me I cannot find ANY pledged ship or otherwise. Just wanted ones. Can anyone provide any extra tips on this? Do I need to switch to Open?

Thanks, I will try that. Actually, I just went to one of those power-related signals and I got three nasty enemy Pythons attacking me out of the blue, so I guess I found them ;)

btw. do you actually get a bounty for killing "clean" rival power ships in their territory?

on topic: the best place to kill tons of them are actually the new power combat zones.
However these seems to be rare. Last week there was one and I was making like 10K merits every hour in it. But its gone now. At the moment I can't find any.
They are usually in contested systems where two or more powers are over conflict threshold. There is only one such system at the moment, but there are no conflict zones spawned yet. I hope that changes anytime soon.

Yes you do. If you go to their stronghold carrier and start killing ships it does impact you. Same if you kill other players. That said you can do both in your own territory with no penalties. Such as if you see a enemy power mining.

Is there any way to find rival power ships in "peaceful"/unclaimed systems? One of my weekly's tells me to go into Hip 1134 and kill rival power ships. But there are no CZs , no Power Sites in the system. There is no rival ship at the Nav beacon, nor in the extraction sites... or just skip it? I mean the merrit points are laughable low. I am only level 5. Will the merrit points of the weekly's go up with higher levels?
