New twist in the Thargoid War
Recently we had a Galnet article warning us that the Thargoids might target unexpected systems.

Yesterday, we started seeing in-game notices that the rescue megaships are on the move to the heart of the bubble. An ominous sign, because it sounds like they're going to be needed there, which is bad news for humanity.

Next week's server tick is going to be interesting...

As long as I can keep doing what I'm doing unimpeded it's all good. Not into fighting Thargoids myself.

Doing passenger rescues from invaded bases earns up to 200m per run (cutter/T8). No fighting involved. The material rewards are crazy too.

You have my attention Sighman. lol I lack a passenger ship though.

On top of that, the tier 1 rewards for helping to clear a system are 120 top-grade materials across the 3 categories, in random bins. (Tier 2 is about 60 high grade mats, tier 1 is 18 or 3 across 6 categories)

You get these rewards for every system you help in.

What you need is a ship with passenger cabins - mix of first class, business and economy. Fly to a ground port under attack (there were 6 systems yesterday, will list them below). Then you fit 2-3 ECMs to counteract the Scythe FSD shutdown missiles.

Dock at a ground port, take VIP pax missions first, filling your cabins efficiently. Then take bulk passenger missions for the rest.

Lift off, keep boosting, and jump towards the required rescue megaship (This can be 120-200 ly travel so pack a fuel scoop or enough fuel tanks)

Each time you jump, in thargoid space, you will be hyperdicted by Scythes. When they launch missiles at you, hold down your ECM fire button until the charge is exhausted. Keep boosting away from them. The second ECM is for the next batch of missiles, and a third is just in case. (You can bind a key to ECM. Just remember it's a hold-down while the charge lasts, not a quick press.)

Keep jumping to the destination. ON the way you might get a mission message offering an alternate destination - be sure to refuse it, otherwise the passengers won't leave the ship when you start turning in missions (that one will be waiting for your response.) If you forget, cancel the redirect while docked, then relog.

BTW ground ports also have a lot of missions for urgent materials, so instead of rescuing pax you can deliver goods. AND they have escape pods with wounded people in you can take out as well.

Laumas and Col 285 Sector YT-F b12-3 are 2 ground ports currently under attack. There are invasions in other systems where you should be able to get the same missions from stations instead. See here:

I lack access to a cutter but may have to set up my type 8 for this.

I've been using a T8. Works better than the cutter.

This is my T8 rescue build.

I could make that work but lack guardian modules and grade 5 access for thrusters. I'll have slightly less speed and 9 less light year jump range. I'll also have to do all the other engineering as well.
Sighman Sep 13, 2024 @ 2:07am
The other engineering is optional. You're not going to get shot at and speed doesn't matter much either.

^ This. I've done rescue mission I think it was in my T-10, just a matter of getting the H-E-double toothpicks out of there and thrusting away from the interdictions for 2-3 systems on the way out, rinse and repeat.

Just be ready for the interdictions with the pips on the engines and you're good to go.

I say we get some plot of deception by cloned humans that were captured by the Thargoids or some Thargoid agents infiltrated important organisation disguised as humans. I mean Thargoids are very proficient with bio-engineering so some cloning wouldn't be out of question.

Something like concentrating important assets in one system and then nukeing it.

I say we give peace another chance. I mean, we humans did start the whole thing by trying to murder them all.

Peace is a two-sided deal. If only one side wants it, then it is a capitulation, not peace.

I mean, we humans did start the whole thing by trying to murder them all.
In our space.

Tomorrow will be interesting. Not only will the rescue megaships be moving to a system next to Shinrarta, but there's also going to be a small patch/update for the game.

In our space.

And what makes you think it's ours?

The Guardian/Thargoid conflict predates the existence of humanity.

We're just a vermin infestation problem, from a dirt ball in their back yard.

We are here, they aren't. So, presently it's ours.

The Guardian/Thargoid conflict predates the existence of humanity.
And they both left the space. Now it is owned by other life forms.
