Can you get all the ships ingame without paying real money?
Hello - I'm interested in buying this game in the near future but I'm worried about the microtransactions which are on offer like ships and weapons. So, can I get them ingame as well by playing the game or do I have to put real money on the table to get anything other than the starter ship/weapons? I'm okay with it as long as paying money is just a shortcut but I'm certainly not if I have to buy everything seperately on top of the already steep purchase price.

Alright, thx, that's a relieve. But how does it work, anyway? Can you buy them (with ingame money) at some stations later on in the game?

No real money needed EVER unless you want to buy different paint colors for you ship. everything in the game is earn't like it should be with in game currency!

I think you must be confusing this game for another OP. No idea where you got the idea that ships and weapons can be bough for real money, they can't.

Only paintjobs, and perhaps later other cosmetic items, can be bough for money.

Elite only has one currency, Credits(Cr) which buy everything.

You get ships from Stations; the richer Stations always have better selections, and a couple offer a Factory Discount on a specific class. Most ships are available from day 1, and there aren't any level or skillpoints needed to fly them. That said, really big ships like the Lakon Type 9 cost a fortune to run, so your budget will limit your options early on.
In people defending "SC"'s wording. " ED has paid cosmetic items that will hopefully include bobbleheads or fuzzy die again. Thats perfectly fine, because the company has to make some money regardless to keep it development options going forward. (Plenty if not all developers do this ♥♥♥♥ now don't even deny it, its a company making company. ) I'm perfectly fine with downloading Expansion Packs and Cosmetic Items if their worth the price, and these ones are pretty much worth it in my opinion I'm actually happy that I'm seeing them not resort to Payable & Playable on Start Ships that P2W taste will linger for a looooooooong time for some of their ships too.

Yes, please!

I don't want to give FD any more money... but for bobbleheads and fuzzy dice I'd make an exception.

At least you'd be able to see those from inside the cockpit...

And, hopefully, once the "walking around our ships" expansion comes out, we'll also be able to buy useless crap to decorate our ship interiors with (hey, the system works, just look at TF2 hats[i.imgur.com])...

Letting players customise their avatars for stations would be a great idea. EVE had a very successful cash-shop for cosmetics; once they started being bold with their fashion the idea really took off.

Yes, I expect that sort of thing will be included with the "walking around" expansion.

be aware tough it may take a long time to get money. and by that i mean a million. but once you gain a million you will make millions faster. untill you are trying to get the anaconda that is over 100 million.

its funny how cosmetic stuff is Ok, but when it gets into community based expansions it becomes a problem. Especially between collaborators of work.
I think I might be missing some context here, sorry... :/

No.. It has a shop where you can paint jobs, and there's a merchandise shop for hats & coffee mugs..

But, no stat bonus rings, no magic elixirs, no OMG +3 vorpal swords for $20.00, no magic autolock missiles, or tough skin etc. etc. etc.

Optional micro transactions. They add nothing other than cosmetics.
