Is there latency in solo mode ?
Well , I live in a place where the latency never go under 200ms . But I'm really fan of space and space sims , and this game really interest me .
But I know that It will be impossible to play correctly with a so much lag .
So Before decide to buy it or not , I just want to know if in the solo mode , there is the same lag as on online mode , or if all the game is 'played' on the computer

Braben has stated that the game can be played in extremely spotty networks (tethered connections and even public transportation), but I couldn't confirm it since I haven't tried it firsthand.

Solo is supposed to use only ~10kb/s on average, basically to connect to the servers for login, economy, and politics stuff (basically when you jump into another system or drop out of frameshift); NPCs, procedural generation, and everything else is hadnled locally, so latency shouldn't be much of an issue, if at all.

Multiplayer, on the other hand, is peer to peer, so there you could have a problem.

okay . So I shouldnt have lag problem in solo mode ?
Cause my problem is not really the bandwith .. I've about 1mb/s , but it's really the latency that never go under 200ms .
mhh , I profite to ask if there is not a demo , or a way to test the game before buy it ?

As mbpoblet said, a lot of stuff is handled locally, so regardless of your ping or speeds you're not going to find your ship or NPC ships rubberbanding all over the place.

The amount of bandwidth used in solo mode is also comically small, it only seems to use it to "phone home" occasionally. I usually don't see bandwidth usage go much higher than this[i.imgur.com] (lower left corner), it's not even 1 kb/s. Not had a single issue playing this over a tethered 3G connection in the middle of nowhere.

well , if there is not lag in solo , I think I will buy it so . It seem to be a really good game.

Make sure to watch videos, read the manuals, read reviews, and get as much information as you can before deciding to buy it, though (this applies to any game, by the way, unless you don't care about the expense).

Unless you're already into space sims, of course, if that's the case, enjoy. :)

I'm completly into space sims :) And it seem it use real physics into this game , that make me want it more . Well , after it's sure I will gather more informations before buying :p

Does a simple 3 axis joystick with throttle is enought to be able to play it good ?
im playing Solo from Australia and i experience absolutely no lag at all (even with the ping spikes ive been getting from my crappy isp)

It has newtonian physics, but automatically uses the positioning thrusters to force a "planes in space" model (max speed, slow yaw forcing you to use roll and pitch, that kind of thing)... which actually seems to make dogfighting more fun, once you get used to it (you can disable flight assist, but not this parts of it).

You should be fine (although you'll need the keyboard to access some functions and to use the positional thrusters); while it has quite a lot of controls and bindings, the game is quite controller agnostic.

That said, some kind of head tracking like TrackIR or equivalent (or proper VR, although I'd wait for the consumer models to come out towards the end of the year), and some voice recognition software like Voice Attack or GlovePIE, while not being necessary, can certainly make the game even more enjoyable and immersive (as could, arguably, a proper HOTAS).
