Question: Can I backup my controller custom bindings?

I just reinstalled my game, but I have to set all key bindings one by one again,
have any way I can save my custom bindings , then just reload or overwrite it
if I need to next time?

I wonder if there's a config file. good question.

Cause I know to change the HUD permamently you need to edit a specific config.

If I'm not mistaken the bindings should be at %localappdata%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings\Custom.binds; copy that file elsewhere, and copy it back if you mess up or lose your bindings.

I can't find that path on my computer,my game is Steam version.
I can only find this :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-1010\ControlSchemes

All default key bindings are there,but no custom bindings.

Hm, do you have something like C:\Users\[YOUR WINDOWS USER NAME]\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous (without an undersore between Elite and Dangerous)?

Or, maybe, in your Steam library folder, two different Elite Dangerous folders, one with an undersocre and one without?

The Appdata folder is hidden so don't bother looking it manually just open start in windows and enter in search %localappdata% or %appdata% and from there start looking manually I also own steam version and its there where mbpoblet said it is %localappdata%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings\Custom.binds also you can rename name of bind file (for exemple you rename Custom to Xbox360) to anything you want and its gonna appear in game like that.

you can even copy paste in folder path this:
%localappdata%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings
and its gonna open you directly folder in which bind files are located.

Always back up your bindings. AIUI there's still a bug/design-feature that will delete your bindings file if the game is run without the relevant controller/s attached. I might be slightly wrong about the trigger for the bug but it's something like this & annoying either way.

I agree. Earlier I simply unplugged an xbox pc controller from the computer as I thought it might be interfering with the running of the game. After I did that, the config file disappeared. It was no longer in the folder either. I have 2 copies of the game installed as well, one Steam version and the original one outside of steam - both were gone. Very odd. I had unplugged and replugged the other usb controllers in and windows started downloading and updating on one of them. Must have erased something.

Upshot was, I had to spend over 30 minutes rebinding all the controls again to the 3 controllers I use for it. There is no option in game to save a file. Absurd you have to do this manually. I learnt my lesson today - I knew it existed and where it was, but didn't back it up.
