Escape vectors
I cant really find anything about how to locate your escape vector. Getting to close to a star and trying to escape is kinda of a pain in the rear end when you can t even find the vector. Literally stationary and looking in all directions. This does not show up on the radar like a destination would.

Am I missing something? Besides maybe not ever getting too close to a star again?

I'd expect aiming away from the star would let you move away from it.

its a blue reticle that appears out infront of your ship that swirls, soon as interdiction starts it will be infront you then begin to swirl all over so you have to be pretty quick to follow it.

Its sometimes quicker to sumbit (0 throttle) full power to engines > hit J and boost and supercruise out of there.

It depends on your ships ability to turn in SC, your skills and reactions, and the strength of the FSD pulling at you (better ones are harder to beat).

If you find you can't stay on the target or you are staying more or less, but still losing, submit rather than take damage.

There's an indicator on your hud (above and to the right of your radar) that shows your targetted destination aim for that. Don't jump until you are aligned.

The above instructions are slightly off... your current navigation target is displayed to the top left of your radar. It's a circle with a blue dot in it.

Turn your ship in the direction of the blue-dot. If the dot is hollow it means your destination is behind you and you need to do a complete turn, if it's solid then it's in front.

The dot is contextual, so it'll direct you to your escape vector, the station you've targeted, the star you've locked on and once you're in a station it'll direct you to your landing space (especially useful if you're in a big ship and you get a front slot).

It's critical to know how to use it if you get your screen shot out.

All this is covered in the manual.

It's indicated on the compass, just like when you target a star or try to find your landing pad.

He's not talking about interdictions

I'm sure the manual mentions these?

^ This. There is no vector indicated for escaping a star, you simply fly away from it.

You will have an indicator in the little indicator mentioned here if you have something targeted or during interdictions or other things, but there is no indicator for simply flying away from a star, other than looking out the front window and making sure you're not flying smack into it... :^D
I've seen what he's talking about. You try to enter SC but you get a system message stating to use the escape vector.

You just have to swing around until you see it in front of you, and then fly into it. I haven't noticed it on the compass or on the radar. Haven't really looked though, I just look for it out the cockpit.

Not sure if it's a bug, or something related to being near a significant body of mass /shrug. I've been getting it a lot when im leaving an asteroid belt after mining, etc.

Ah, I see. I don't think I've tried to enter Supercruise without having something targeted, so guess that's why I haven't experienced this.

I just went thru the manual.... Was a last resort... LOL

Yes it is from trying to go into SC while near a significant mass... And yes it should appear on the navigation compass.
