External Views
I've noticed in a lot of the screen-shots there are external view pictures, how do I do that? I've tried random keys on the KB to no avail.

Is possible have a External View of your ship ?

There is a Debug Camera you can use to look at your ship. I'm not sure it is assigned to a key by default tho. Check in your Control Options. But you can't fly your ship with it so don't get any ideas.

Yeah it's supposed to be that but mine was unassigned. I used that in the end

Debug (external view) is F12, Screenshot is F10. 4K screen shot is Alt+F10

It in essence launchs a little camera you can fly round your ship. You can not pilot your ship in third person

Go into the options and bind a key to it, works fine but beware you cannot control your ship or fire your weapons whilst using it.

Its called Debug Camera CTRL+ALT+SPACE

Of course you won't able to fly in that mode.

That's not true, sir! I clearly remember flying head-first into an asteroid in Debug Camera mode.

Thank you, I don't wish to fly in that mode but I do like the screen-shots I have been seeing and wanted to be able to do that too. Thank you.

Go to your options and check for the debug camera controls, mine by default was ctrl + alt
