Founder Only Missions?
From Michael about upcoming 1.3 Power Play patch.

"One of the limitations of the current system is that missions tended to be a good option for starting players, but not so much for later on in the game. The overhaul will address this issue by making missions available for more experienced players as well as SPECIFIC MISSIONS FOR higher ranks or status – such as being a FOUNDERS LEVEL MEMBERS. The system will also expand the influence of reputation on missions to reward players who build a high reputation with minor factions."

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=135952

Thats quoted from FD official fourums...Specific missions only available for founder members??

Great game btw I'm enjoying it very much :D

I'm quite certain I'm a founder level member (alpha backer, could start on the founder's world) and, frankly, I'd rather everyone got the same content.

For instance, why can't I choose to have the same insurance deductible as everyone else, or to have to earn my way to Sol?

This kind of rewards should have been merely cosmetic, in my opinion, and this announcement is one more move in the wrong direction. :/

I'm not a founder, wish I was. I couldn't afford £150 during the ks, so I paid £100 and then later I paid another £100 for alpha. I do have a founders world pass, but that doesn't make me a founder so I'll miss out on this.

Pity really but so be it.

Isn't it a bit early to complain about that? There's been no word at all about the nature of those missions. And re "earning my way to sol", why? That's what, a couple evenings of relaxed mission routine, and getting it as a token of gratitude is far from a game breaking advantage.

The system will allow missions to target commanders meeting a range of criteria, being a founder is just one possible requirement; "for higher ranks or status" is probably far more important in that message than the example, so the new system would enable the game to hand out missions specifically tailored to a particular playstyle.

Ah, then I'm not sure I am one, either. :D *shrug*

Edit: what tier exactly was founder level then? Only references I can find are being able to start in the founder's world at £85 and up, and being able to name it at £5,000 (single serving, obviously)...

Right now, the only thing special about Sol is the dreadnaught class ship guarding earth. Hopefully it becomes a mini boss if Frontier ever adds group pve missions. I worked my up the federation ladder to get into Sol and found nothing really special there, other than seeing a digital representation of Earth.

Founder was £150

I paid £100 and then £100 so don't get it. lol

OK, I checked the kickstarter directly and I seem to be in the exact same situation (apparently got the alpha later), so all's good then, no extra missions for me. :)

Edit: Ah, that's what I didn't see it: I searched for "founder", not "founding". :P

Those missions are for players who have elite rank OR they are founders.

I find Brooke's wording vague and unclear (as usual), but if the missions can be earned (by gaining Elite rank), then all's fine.

Still, it'd be nice to be able to disable those kinds of "benefits". Too close for comfort to pay-to-win. :/

More like 'pay to get the damn game developed in the first place so that random people can whine about it on forums' :)

from kickstarter page:
“The Elite” are a secretive group of intrepid pilots. Throughout human space, there are a great many people that have been helped by “The Elite” over the years, and because of this “The Elite” are treated well, wherever they go. Whether it be discounts on buying special items or repairs, and the small number of founding members even greater benefits. Other benefits include a greater likelihood of being offered rare missions or opportunities. Membership is offered to pilots who have proven their ability by reaching “Elite” rating within the Pilot’s Federation, but the founding members are not put through such an indignity.

Thanks. Let's hope Braben et al read it too. ;)

+1 I hope this is how those missions can be accessed.
