Engine power distribution while in FSD mode?
I've made a habit of setting max power to the engine (with power distribution) before I'm using the Frame Shift Drive.

Does anyone know if it has any effect? Like if the trips take shorter time (not hyperspace jumps) by being able to accelerate and decelerate faster, and if we get improved manouverability if we get interdicted, or if we are interdicting someone?

You can't change power distribution while in supercruise. It's irrelevant when in that mode of travel.

Yes, but I set it before I'm going to supercruise, and it stays on max during supercruise as well, I've noticed.

But ok, if it's irrelevant anyway, I can drop that habit... :) Thanks.

And thanks for your excellent tool (ED Best Profit Calc). I use it all the time! :)

The only problem I see with it is that when maxing engine power before supercruising (I do it to in order to get away from the mass I've just left) we can't change the settings even if they have no effect. So when I get interdicted and fail, I have to reset during a fight. Now people might complain that it's just a button push away, however, from a micromanagement standpoint, it wastes time that could be used saving your own life.

Even if it is irrelevant, we should have the option to change it during downtime. I love the power distribution option otherwise!

Yeah I have the power distributions set to the hat switch on my joystick (it was set to that as default), and use it all the time while in combat and when leaving/approaching starports and during docking. It's a nice feature.

It would be nice if it also helped with escaping from interdictions, though. Kind of a reward for setting it to max engine power before going to supercruise... :)

But I guess the Frame Shift Drive is a completely different system, so...

I have Voice Attack set up to handle power distribution as well as lots of other functions. It's handy to be able to say simply "Battle Stations" (3 to SYS, 3 to WEAP, deploy hardpoints and lock hostile target), or simply "Max Engines" or "Balance Power".

Voice Attack adds a lot of immersion, too, and for only $8 who can't afford it.

can't you change it during the initial failure stage when your getting pulled out of super cruise and can't REALLY move so much before you gain full movement for your ship?

Most likely, but I'm already getting my adrenaline rush at that point. I'd like to do it during cruise mode. If it doesn't have any use during that time, why not just have the option anyway?

Sounds great. I looked it up.

I don't use a microphone, but I do have a gaming keyboard with macro keys. I might just set up some of them for this game. Your "Battle Stations" was a great idea.

Just wanted to say that I've gotten myself a headset with a microphone now, and bought Voice Attack. It's incredible! Everything is so much easier with it, especially in a game like this. Can't believe I haven't tried this before.

Thanks again for the tip!
