finding locked destinations?
I'm doing the travel tutorial and I noticed that locked destinations don't show on your radar? I have to spin my ship around random directions to find where I'm going? Really? The radar is hard enough to decipher as it is but at least it showed you something.

I've looked at the guide. It doesn't help.

The little circle on the left of the hud is the compass. Solid dot = in front. Hollow dot = behind.

Whatever you have selected as a waypoint will show in there - point your ship towards it to jump.

Why would a star system many LY away be shown on the radar? There's not a "gate" or anything you need to fly to - you just need to point in the right direction (because obviously that's the direction you want to go), and use your Frameshift drive to Hyperspace there.

the radar is at a 3/4 view. At the upper left corner is a little blue circle inside a blue circle, which has a blue dot in it. That is your Lock indicator. It is seperate so that you dont have to pick out your escape vector during a heated confrontation with MANY contacts. And soon, you will be in that situation where there are dozens of sh ips, and half a dozen spilt cargo containers, and fritzing contacts that are out of range, and dee doo beep boop bop.

Listen to the people who try to help you.
