3rd person Gameplay?

Any idea when or how to get 3rd person Or will it always be stuck on 1st person? Its nice to have first person dont get me wrong it gives more immersion. but some times i like third person to see the ship im flying.. any clue for that?

This game does not have 3rd person gameplay. It has however 3rd person camera angle so you can view your ship, but you are not really meant to play the game on this mode, just to admire your awesome space wagon.

No, and I hope they will not implement that.

You have EvE and Starpoint Gemini 2 for third person. But this is a cockpit game where you aim like in a fighter and 3rd person would break the immersion.

But as ssg said, you have a camera for looking at the ship and taking screenshots. It's not meant for gameplay.

You need to bind a key to debug camera in your controls. Alt F10 for high res screenshots. Warning its addicting...

You have to access Options > Controls and look for Debug Camera keybinding. It is not setup by default! Setup to something of your liking and fire away :)

Its ctrl, alt, space. Some seemed have got this by defult other haven't. I didnt got it so I hade to go in the option and set the keys. Look for debug camera.

Go into the controls and set a key to it, be aware though its just for viewing your ship, you cannot fly your ship or shoot your weapons whilst in that view.

its only in 1st person and the camera is just a debug camera. You can use it to take SC's but thats all. No use if you want to use it to gain an advantage in gameplay

Thanx to god, there is no 3rd person view and there will not be. There is external camera - you can use it for screenshots. You can define buttons in options. In default it was left alt+left ctrl+space

First, sorry for reviving this old thread - but I've been googling everywhere and still could not find the answer.

I just installed Elite Dangerous, and currently is looking for this external camera / debug camera - to enable me to take screenshots of the outside view.

However, Ctrl - Alt - Space does not work.

And there is nothing related to external camera under Settings - Control - Miscellaneous

I have ED version 2014.11.26.51787 - 0.4.3670

Does anyone knows how to activate the Debug Camera in this version ?

I found out why there is no "Classified Camera View" under the Settings - Control - Miscellaneous : turned out I chose "solo player", which does not have this feature.

After I started ED normally, now this setting shows up.

The debug camera works fine in ''Solo player''.

Sorry, that's incorrect. The debug camera is available in every mode.
