Is there a special area where new players spawn?

I know that there are several star systems where people can start but are they all relatively close to Sol or are some also further out? I promise I don't want to hunt new players, I only have an Adder now and it's outfitted to trade. Just looking for some more player interaction. When I started I decided to just kind of fly off somewhere and now I'm in the middle of nowhere and 90% of the ships are AI.

I myself started near Eravate, I think. I was thinking of heading there. Is that a good idea?

Lave sounds like the place to be. 200 ly is kind of mental for me though, I've only done about 60 I think. Should be a fun road trip. I guess I'm gonna need a fuel scoop now.

New players start in LHS 3447 and Eravate mostly.

If you are a new player, and not staying in solo, stay away from Lave, as a beta backer of this game I can tell you its considered a historically signigicant system and croweded with other players who will be better equiped and more experienced.

Okay. But Lave is a high security system. If I only trade (for the time being), in and around Lave, are my chances of getting brutally murdered still significantly higher than elsewhere?

This is not Eve, the fact that is a High security system means nothing, no one will help you unless you are like near 7km of a station where no shooting is allowed. Its more dangerous because a lot of real players are near that place and will interdict you and take your stuff.

large communites of players have laid seige of the lave system in the past, enter at your peril

The first time you play in 'open' mode, you are actually in solo... you have to jump away from where you start (many start in LHS 3447 at Trevithick dock for some unknown reason...) then log out to the main menu and go back in. it's a safety feature that is intended to save predation of new players, but gets in the way of jumping straight into co-op!
