So whats the Singleplayer option?
Just curious I didn't think this game had a singleplayer mode considering its an MMO.

There is a single player mode, it's just a semi-offline version of private version of the game. Semi-offline version = Online single player, you still need internet to play i believe.

In single player you play alone and can't see other cmdr ships. In private mode you can only see your friends. On multiplayer you see everyone. On all 3 modes you can chat with your friends.
The game is always online because every action a player does affects the background sim.
ie: Buying goods on a station lowers offer and raises price regardless of mode.

The single-player (non Open mode) option is still in the persistent online world shared with everyone else, you just don't meet anyone else.

So if you're trying to fly into Lave (one of the very busy and PvP-heavy systems, since it has a lot of good trade routes going through it), and have spent the last half hour getting blown up as soon as you exit the station in Open mode, you can exit to menu, enter solo mode, and you'll be in your ship in the same station, there just won't be anyone else around. The station still sells the same stuff, supply and demand are still affected by you and everyone else, if you decide to spend the next week flying out to the galactic rim and visit a system no other player has been in before, it will still forever be tagged as "Discovered by CMDR =VAC=Killers (or whatever you pilot name is) for all subsequent players to visit the system.

As an old eve online player i was miffed at this option at first but it is working quite well. It allows a much larger playerbase to enjoy this game. With open FFA PVP we would exclude many gamers from the game.

Your PC will host all the instances in SOLO mode and you will not see other players. Your still able to effect the universe though and or interact in the exact same way everyone else does playing group and or open play. You won't notice any lag or anything in SOLO. It's all done locally except for your meta data.

There is no true single-player like other games. Their single-player is merely the standard game without any other human players. The rest is exactly the same. Your single-player game still gets affected by whatever happens in the multi-player world.

You still have to be on the Internet and you will still experience lag spikes.

The single player mode is the complete online version of the game. Except that you won't be put into the same instance with other players. So it is just you and NPCs

I understand that but can we play multiplayer (with others) PvE only

As in login to Multiplayer and just do PvE content, Playing single while fun would get lonely over time imo
