Cargo space on t9 prebuilt
Anyone know how much cargo space is available with the prebuilt t9? Thinking of buying it if it way more then the t8 since mine only has 350 tons of space available for colonization and since Arks are on sale now.

No idea about the cargo space. The loadout has been posted in this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/359320/discussions/0/595142234675959058/?ctp=3

Since it has no engineered modules, wouldn't you rather buy it for normal Credits?
The outfitting is expensive. A rated thrusters alone are 96 Million.

If you like the package, then you may take the deal but it is not anything you couldn't build yourself, except for the Guardian FSD booster.

I think the max for a Type 9 is 772t.
Stick an SCO drive on it and a heatsink, and it's surprisingly fast. In a straight line...

The max for a Type 8 is around 400. I bought a second Type 8 just to haul to colony ships/construction sites. No fuel scoop, no shields, no nothing. Just a DSS because size 1 cargo bays are worthless.

Between them, i actually prefer the Type 9. Initially i thought it was way too slow but i've warmed up on the ship once i learned how to fly it and use SCO effectively.

I would buy it with credit but since I am a casual player only have 106 million right now. That would use most of it up.

It wouldn't be enough :D

Hmm. You could buy one, and try it. Sell it if you don't like it.
I think you probably won't like it.
The Type 8 runs circles around it. It is much faster, plus it is stable in SCO flight.

If you buy the Type 9 with ARX, you cannot get your money back.

Do you like taking half an hour to turn around?

Boosting at speeds pretty much all other ships can cruise at without even going full throttle?

How about spending nearly a 100 million credits, just on A rated thrusters so you can go a whole 10m/s faster than if you were using D rated?

Do you enjoy being at every other ships mercy?

Would you like worse jump from the best FSD that you can fit, than some ships have with their standard E rated drive?

Then the T9 is for you!

In case it's not obvious, I'm not a fan of the giant metal turd lol

It's good for line of sight runs. Not much else to be frank.

I suppose in some cases, a T-10 could be preferable. You do get less cargo space than with the T9, but more than with a T8. It's still slow but at least it steers properly. And since you get a couple of optional internals committed to military slots, it's bound to be tougher than both the T9 and the T8.
I forgot about the jump range... Edited in a comment to reflect that :steammocking:

My T9 carries 784 when stripped down (no shields, no FSD Booster, etc.) and 712 in with both installed. I'm using the T9 a lot right now, but it is only marginally better in terms of tons/hr because of its slower boost speed and overall handling.

TLDR it is a tiny improvement, and in some cases a step backwards.

You get used to it. Jumping from a Type 9 into a Type 8 makes it feel hyperactive and twitchy. That's... a plus?

The math is simple. The T9 does not have double the cargo capacity of the T8, but it is twice as slow (at least). The T8 wins. Without even playing it's SCO optimized card.

Having said that, i've flown the T9 a lot recently. It needs engineering to iron out a couple of deficiencies, but even vanilla it is suprisingly.... fast!

With a heatsink, it can Overcharge enough to cross 90,000 - 125,000 Ls not much slower than the T8.
It will lose time during landings but not that much.

Like i said, once you get used to it, it's pretty damn predictable and even smooth.
It's a concrete mixer, not a truck-cab. You must learn how to get the most out of it.

And then it will not be twice as slow anymore, and will actually shift tons faster than the Type 8.
T8 is better when collecting small amounts of different types of cargo from different places. For bulk runs, i'd try the T9. Try.
It's still a concrete mixer.

I've won interdiction in it against an NPC :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

I hate the T9 but I fly it all the time :steammocking: That's pretty much Elite to me

Dislike extended hauling, I do it constantly
Dislike jumping, gotta do it to play the game properly
Dislike engineering, yet all my ships are engineered to the tits
...the list goes on...

Maybe this is why so many ppl cry about Elite like I and little kids do?
bc every time you're in a session your patience is being tested to a breakpoint lol

I've been hearing the Imp Cutter should make extended hauling a slightly better experience, but that would mean another power ranking grind to me (never been imp pledged and currently fed pledged, so there's that). Guess we'll see someday

Edit:
If I decide to grind for the Cutter I'd better do it far away from my regular 'home area' in the bubble, or it would ruin some of the BGS work I've been doing for a long time.

The bit in bold has no relevance to your Imperial rank.

It impacts my roleplay, that's the only reason. But its my own fault, I should have gotten that Cutter years ago but didn't. And here I sit in a T9 :steamsalty: :steamfacepalm:
Roleplay as a defector? Or a spy?
pre built comes with 724 cargo space, pre engineered and and a Guardian FSB

Spy perhaps, yes  I would have to get in with the big guys then, grease my way to the top like a Black Adder :steammocking:
