Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

Early game meta alloy
If Farseer is seen as the entry level engineer for early game commanders, where can they now source the unit of meta alloy that she needs?

It no longer seems to be available to buy in ordinary marketplaces like it was a few months ago, and early game players aren't going to have the millions per unit that the profiteers hoarding in fleet carriers want, and they aren't going to know where to find titans or how to pick it up from them.

Sucks to be them? :D

How many millions are we talking about? I have never had more than 330 million, and i think that figure is easy to reach with a little bit of grinding, and stupidly easy to reach and surpass with some dedicated grinding (which i am not interested in).

If i can afford it, pretty much anyone can except someone with very little time to play.

Exobiology pays so much. Even without first discovery bonuses.
10 to 20 million per ton

I could buy about ten tons. Another dozen if i sold the Type 9 i recently bought and outfitted.

A Cobra is a cheap, planet happy ship. My advice is get one and either explore or follow a guide to exobio riches.
It'll put hunders of millions in Commanders pockets.

Someone who cannot afford it, isn't ready for engineering. Right?

As I said, Will early game players at the stage where they're needing to unlock her no even the getting them at Titan sites is a thing let alone knowing how to find them and how to gather them?

In fact I don't know how to do that, and I'm about 400 hours in now and trying to unlock engineers for my alt account

I disagree. When I was doing this first time around in my primary account I wasn't following any of the do exactly this to make millions cheat sheets - I was just thundering my way around the game using its organic content and acting on the message that that engineer was available to me now.
Are meta alloys still available via SRV mining at Thargoid Barnacle (3) on planet C 2 in Hyades Sector AQ-Y d81?
I've got a few on my fleet carrier. I can drop you one if you want? I'm parked in Ru Shil.

I grabbed about half a dozen a week or so ago, at the crashed thargoid mothership in HIP 19026...
It's not nearly that bad, you can find some for a couple million credits :

https://inara.cz/elite/commodities/?formbrief=1&pi1=1&pa1%5B%5D=101&ps1=Sol&pi10=1&pi11=5000&pi3=1&pi9=0&pi4=0&pi14=0&pi5=0&pi12=0&pi7=0&pi8=0&pi13=1

Though nowadays meta-alloys are just out there free to scoop at cocijo carcass in Sol where no thargoid spawns.

Or at any other titan ; just stay away from the thargoid. They spawn after 5-10 minutes anyways, plenty of time to grab one meta-alloy before that. Even if they do, the scouts are non-agro (you'd have to shoot first), and interceptors shouldn't agro as long as you have no guardian modules iirc ?

All in all it is quite safe, mostly cheap thrills. If in doubt go in a small ship you can afford to rebuy.

I agree with you. It's also how i am doing it. I am not interested in any of the engineers. I have plenty to do and i'm enjoying myself.
I will probably come around to it but not yet.

But if someone wants to fast track their way to engineering, then i do suggest they follow a guide unless they enjoy flying around and randomly discovering things, species, etc.

BTW, i have just collected the rewards for the two community goals. i can buy FIFTY Meta-Alloys now!
I'm rich mang

do it like us old school players did it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeBeqAjH1fA

and i did this in an non engineered ASP X back in the days so you can do it also took like maybe a day to farm then to jump out there and back.

looks like they are in the Maia system also now.

Follow the cheat sheet of someone who was able to work it out?
I bought mine at Maia or something like that and from an NPC for a normal price.
No way I'm giving into these "scammers" who park their ship near Farseer with overpriced meta-alloys. xD
I appreciate the meta alloys offer. But I was just asking because the barnacles are where I got meta alloys when I started this account several years ago. There was a scripted flyover by a thargoid ship while I was driving around down there, which was cool to see.

Generally, Elite Dangerous is too big and complex a game to organically find everything you need. (There's always one commander who will obstinately refuse all help, guides, etc - I was one of them for years).

Fortunately, as an online-only game, it means you always have access to a web browser while playing.

"Where do I get meta alloys?" works as a search phrase.
I've unlocked other engineers just because I couldnt find meta alloys lol. The outdated guides dont help too
