Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

Speculation of exploits and farmed systems.
This is pure speculation but the sheer volume of claimed systems and the total amount of players make me wonder is a large portion of claimed systems were gained by this exploit they found.

Regardless it might be, suddenly, once it goes back online that previously claimed colonised systems might become available again as devs carry out bans in the main part of the bubble (I went quite far out to the edge of the bubble to find my first as so many inside were claimed so quickly.)

If i'm right it will be a mad scramble again in the first few hours of it going re-live!!

It was a visual bug they have already stated this on the forums

They would not have hit pause over a visual bug.

I was able to claim and build 4 systems in just over 3 days solo before/after work hours. If I can do that as a single player, than I have no doubt in my mind that dedicated players spending all day playing can do it
You did 28ish x 4 = 112ish type 9 carrier load runs in 3 days. And didn’t spend all of those days doing it. Got to say I’m impressed, LOL.

Voice Attack, EDCopilot, Supercruise Assist, and Advanced Docking Computer made it virtually painless. It also helped that I was able to source all of the materials nearby with an average of 3 jumps per trip (1 Jump to destination, 2 jumps back since I was laden). Minus Water and Fruits, everything I needed was less than 45 LY away from where I was building.

Someone in the FDev issue tracker even posted a link to a forum where supposedly the perpatrator admitted to using Cheat Engine to cheat.

I figured ED was too small of a target to be bothered with, but CheatEngine might also explain how some players were able to repeatedly post million+ merit gains in PP2.0 moments after the server ticks time after time.

This might be a tough mess to clean up, but hopefully they will actually clean it up and not sweep it under the rug. It won't stay fixed, of course, but these things only grow worse when ignored.

A team of 30 commanders with fleet carriers pre-loaded with materials could finish an orbital platform very very quickly. Each delivers one load, 30 loads done, job done. Pick the next system, jump there, repeat.

And then the completed station will have a news article in the 'local news' section showing all their names and the amount of materials they delivered.

You can fly to any player-built station right now and check.

The issue is when you see an Orbis station with one contributor that was built very quickly - quicker than it's possible to deliver the 90 Cutter loads or whatever it is.

My first thought was that it was a team, but the supplied snapshot shows just one contributor... https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/72618

It could be a display error, but these are not idle claims of shenanigans we usually see. Cooberating evidence is a link to a post, purportedly by the player on some cheating forum talking about the exploit. Time will tell.
Yeah I suspect there is definitely something going on. I was on my way back from Colonia and ran into the edge of where colonization had reached and there were literally about 50 systems which had been taken by a single person.
Oddly I was unable to dock on the one station I tried to. Just got the access denied message repeatedly.

A basic Cutter can hold about 720 units - shed a little fluff like computers and shields and you get to about 736 or so... That calcs out to about 500 trips. System stations are a around 250k units total. I dont know how solos are cheating the system but id certainly like to know

Oh wait for Vanguard to drop. Trading under players, giving money and such thinks. That would all these farmers, bots maybe coming in in future. But thats the way it goes. There is potential money in. Exploting and cheating included.

True, but it's already trivial to use the carrier marketplace to fund another account. By allowing players to give ships/modules/etc to each other within the same Vanguard/Squadron, I guess they're cutting the gold sellers off at the knees. Instead of a new player being tempted to break the TOS, they can join a vanguard (or buy a prebuilt or two) and get what they need legitimately.

Explain a new player how he has to use all this now, to get his money ingame from a gold seller. It is to complicated for now. And if you know, still it is to much to fidle around.

And yeah it is good like that for now. Hopefully they have a good system to avoid these f-ers (Gold-Sellers)

Onboarding new players is one of the things they mentioned when they talked about Vanguards. You buy the game, find a group to join (presumably using an in-game UI, which they also mentioned) and then you're part of a group that can guide and help with the gameplay you want to do.
