Landing ship
Is there a way to have your ship land where you want it to land?
when I spot something on a planet and stop to land (gear down of course)it always takes way too long for the ship to decide where exactly it should land. Sometimes bringing me 30-to 40 meters off the spot I wanted to land

It seems like it's looking for a suitable landing spot but more often than not the ship has a leg in the air because of a bump or a rock while there is flat surface 10 meters away.

There must be something to disable that landing computer crap right?

It's possible to deactivate automatic landing without deactivating the docking computer. It's in the ship tab where you can activate nightvision, etc.
When the HUD is blue that means you are able to land. And red the contrary.
Like said before, disable the auto-docking in modules to do like you wish.
You can remove the auto docking module like other modules.

Another choice is to deactivate it when you want to do it manually.

Or deactivate auto-landing on planets while keeping the module installed and functional at space stations.

This would be my suggestion. Keep it off and land manually unless you're in really rough terrain where you're struggling to find a landing spot.

I know how you feel. I am also annoyed by the docking computer's decisions esp. when i find a good spot but it overrules me and wastes time finding a worse spot.

in your modules menu, you can select any module (inlc. life support) and switch it off, or repair it (if you have a repair module).
Switch off the DC, and land the ship manually. It will be difficult the first few times but you will never look back.

The only time i reactivate the DC is when i want to hear the Blue Danube again. Once a year approximately.

Be aware that some ships are a joy to land on planets (Cobras, Sideys, Adders and the small ships), and some are annoying (Asps, Type #s, etc.), and some are downright impossible. :steamsalty:

So if I turn it off, it's landing "anywhere" manually right ... That means in space stations also
I'm not that good at that part lol but I guess I could do it when I do Exo biology and turn it back on again
Thanks for the replies

That's turning the module off entirely. You're in the wrong tab. Go to the ship systems tab (4th one along maybe?). There you can just turn off the auto landing feature, auto docking will still work

As funky said. Though I highly recommend you get comfortable with landing manually at space stations. Even if you keep using the docking computer most of the time, there will eventually be situations where it doesn't work and you'll have to land manually.

Oh I can but like I said earlier "I'm not that good at that part" :steammocking:
