This is the smart way to do it.
I've done this with an Asp and Type 9 that i sold after the engineering work was finished.
Got 5 frame shift drives and thrusters engineered, and later i had them transfered to my home system.
You very very rarely have to do batch engineer jobs but if you do, sucks to be you. With all your wealth, and ships, and engineering mats. ;)
