Nav Beacon scan help please..

i cannot scan it..
i targeted it (the real beacon) im near it.. far of it.. still cannot scan it?!
doing this box recover mission
do i need some kind of scanner?

use the FSS? the default key is ' to turn it on. scan frequencies til you get the solid ring then zoom in. not sure if that is what you need to do, but only thing I can think of off hand (still fairly new myself more or less - bought the game when it came out, played a tiny bit, sucked at combat and put it down until a couple days ago. lol)

You don't need any scanner or anything special, but you do need to "scan" it in normal space, not supercruise. Drop in on it like you would a station or point of interest, face and target the beacon while in real space and wait until it's scanned. That'll update your system info, and you'll be able to find your mission objective location.

Select the white marker, not the orange one. The Orange shows the approximate location for supercruise, white is the actual beacon.
