Typically I just honk the system (because, why not?) and use the points of interest button to target the location I need and head for it. As you get closer to the your target location, the planet will be automatically scanned.
What is stopping you from going to the station and buying a Scorp?
Use the Points of Interest tab in the sys map. You can select all the ports from that tab.
Aim at it in normal space
Wait for the system scan.
Voila, they're not undiscovered to you any more.
The nav beacon instantly reveals all planets, points of interest and mission markers when you scan it.
PS if you die before you sell the exploration data, next time you return to this system it will all be 'unexplored' again.
