planets "unexplored"
I'm just trying to buy a scorpion to go on settlement raids, and I searched up closest station that sells it. There's one in a system with like 10 settled planets, all of them "unexplored" in my systems map. Unexplored and settled. What does that even f*cking mean??? Is there no internet 1000 years into the future???? Do I have to manually scan every single one of these planets until I find the right one???? This can't be right, can it??? No player should have to do this ♥♥♥♥ just to get a vehicle....

Also what even determines whether or not I would know the names of planets? There are systems i haven't been to that I know all the names.

Unexplored means unexplored by you. You can explore the planets of a settled system quickly and easily by scanning the beacon, or by scanning every planet if you like to waste time.

Typically I just honk the system (because, why not?) and use the points of interest button to target the location I need and head for it. As you get closer to the your target location, the planet will be automatically scanned.

Some systems are well known. Other systems show as unexplored even though they are inhabited.

What is stopping you from going to the station and buying a Scorp?
Use the Points of Interest tab in the sys map. You can select all the ports from that tab.
Just ping the system with the discovery scanner and use your navigation panel/filters.

Go to the nav beacon
Aim at it in normal space
Wait for the system scan.
Voila, they're not undiscovered to you any more.

I wish the game did a better job explaining that; I thought nav(igation) beacons are specifically for ship information for bounty missions, as the name implies....
Odd take that one... What part of "Navigation Beacon", says "Bounty hunters mission information store"?

All the hunting missions tell you this, go scan Nav beacon, track target down and kill them. I don't see it mentioned elsewhere.

The nav beacon instantly reveals all planets, points of interest and mission markers when you scan it.

PS if you die before you sell the exploration data, next time you return to this system it will all be 'unexplored' again.
